the timing belt should be changed every 60,000 miles.
your engine is an interference engine, which means if the timing belt breaks or skips, the valves will hit the pistons.
if your belt broke you will have bent valves. so the heads will need to come off and bent valves replaced.

Remove the drive belts, then spin each pulley by hand. You should find one that feels wobbly or rough. This is the component that is most likely causing your chirp. Usually it is either the water pump or an idler pulley. DO NOT run the engine with the belts removed- the engine will overheated and severely damaged!

where the latches go into there locking spots is there a gap that seems to have become wider if so then maybe you can use a come along to draw it back in some
