Don't forget to disable the engine and crank it till you have oil pressure it only takes running it a minute without pressure to destroy the rod and main bearings be sure to use the correct oil when changing the pump consult a service manual Industry practice was to use assembly lube to prime the oil pumps on installation but with the use of more and more aluminum and lighter oils some engines manufacturers do not recommend priming the pump this way i suggest immerse the oil pickup tube in clean oil and spin the pump shaft till you draw oil to the top of the pump

NO dont drop tank, you will be sorry, take bed off, only like 6 or 8 bolts, and you will have more room to work, and its a pain in the *** to undo the lines and drop the tank, you cant get in there to do it, but just basic tools nothing special, be sure and try not to make any sparks while takein off that ring to get the pump out, and put an ac delco pump on there

The use of cooling system seal tabs (or similar compounds) may restrict coolant flow through the passages of the cooling system or the engine components. Restricted coolant flow may cause engine overheating and/or damage to the cooling system or the engine components/assembly.

I'm thinking of buying a 2002 2500HD duramax 4x4.

good trucks, but they've been known to give trouble.( injector pumps, fuel filter housings, etc.) the injector pump alone runs around $1500.00, without labor. fuel pump housing,$150.00,and so on. and pray the turbo doesn't go out! my sugestion? buy a gas rig with a 350 that has maintainence records and about 125.000 to 150.000 miles. it will last you a good long time.

Cannot pump gas into tank. the safety mechanism on gas pump keeps shutting off. I do have a check engine light for a small emissions leak.

you need to replace the vent purge solenoid. this is what vents the air out of the fuel tank when you fill up and what is causing your code. it is available at your dealer, and is a fairly common issue. good luck!

How to remove a 2003 GMC Sierra water pump

I personaly dont see many water pump gaskets leak, but instead there is a weep hole that they leak from when they wear out. they are designed this way. which is common. reason it may leak with ignition off is now the pressure builds up verses being cycled through the engine and doesnt reall have time to squirt out.and it just finds a way out with engine off which would be your weep hole most likely.

Its not hard to fix or replace water pumps on the gas engines. there should be the large A/C and powersteering bracket that can be removed and sometimes if you dont have clearence the alternater bracket. its not very hard. basic tools work just fine. the only thing that may be alittle hard is the fan nut. you will need a large wrench and something to stop the pully from spining while loosening and tightening that nut. should take about 2 hours or so. IIRC13mmm, 15mm bolts, 9/16 bolts and 10mm and 8mm bolts. that all you need.other than the large wrench. pipe wrench will work but you need something to prevent the pulley from movning. thats very important.

Good luck. I hope i answered your question.
