Need heater hoses diagram for 1996 Ford Ranger 3.0

Hooking up the heater hoses wrong would not cause your problem. I would make sure the system is full of coolant and has no air pockets, and then check the blend door under the dash.

This is hard to describe, and is a multi-part problem on my 2006 explorer....first, here are the symtoms: 1.) heater blows cold air, unless engine is reved up...as soon as I let off gas, or am coasting,...

you have a massive vacuum leak, thats why your heater is not working fine, it uses a vacuum operated valve to transfer the hot water from the engine inside the heater core, and there is a door kind ventilation valve that also opens to make the air pass true the hot side, the sound you hear "blower like" its the air leak in the engine probably a vacuum line our broken hose check all the hoses there is your problem

Heater blows cold air. I have replaced thermostat,

Not an expert by any means, but i know my ranger.. I had a small leak at the top of my radiator that still cooled the engine but didnt have enough pressure to get to the heater. The heater hoses travel up over the engine and just were not gettin anything to my heater core. That or make sure the heater control valve is operating.

Heater in truck blows either cold air or no air.

It sounds like you have air trapped in the cooling system. Try filling the radiator and coolant reservoir cold. Then leave the radiator cap loose and run engine at 1500 rpm until it warms up and the thermostat opens. Make sure heater is on full warm setting.

Heater does not blow warm air

The click from He..., anyway hear is the problem, there is an electric motor that controls the door deep in the dash that sets the temperature of the outlet air, it is called a air temperature control blend door actuator, it has failed, in order to replace this part u must remove the dash assembly.
