You have to follow a certain procedure when replacing the IAC(idle air control. If you dont follow the correct procedure the pintle will stay in the wrong position, ie: it will not cover the opening in the throttle body and result in a high idle condition.

Where is the fuel injection idle air control valve located

It's IAC - idle air control valve , not fuel injector idle air control valve. It's located on the throttle body -air inlet for the engine .

Does my 2002 Chevy Impala have an idle speed control screw that I can raise my idle speed with

Well then you have a problem with the IAC - idle air control valve , air fuel mixture , mass air flow sensor , vacuum leak or some other problem with electronic fuel injection , OBD 2 ,emissions etc... There is an idle speed , minimal setting .Adjusting this will throw off the computer system , check engine light will come on an you won't be able get it to go out ! The PCM - engine computer controls the idle speed through the use of the IAC - motor or valve . Idle Air Control Valve You need to have it fix properly ! Check engine light on ?

I replaced my secondary air check valve on my 2001 chevy tahoe but code 1416 still comes up. what else can i check

here is what i found on p1416.

P1416 Chevrolet
P1416 Chevrolet - Secondary Air Injection System Bank 2
Possible causes
- Faulty Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump
- Secondary Air Injection check valve bank 2
- Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump electrical circuit fault
- Blocked Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system

When is the code detected?

The P1416 code is set when no O2 sensor voltage change is detected by the Engine Control Module (ECM).

Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

P1416 Chevrolet Description
An Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump is used on this vehicle to lower tail pipe emissions on start-up. The PCM supplies a ground to the AIR pump relay, which energizes the AIR pump. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the HO2S voltages to diagnose the AIR system. During the AIR test the PCM activates the AIR pump during closed loop operation. When the AIR is activated, the PCM monitors the HO2S voltages and short term fuel trim values for both banks of the engine. If the AIR system is operating properly, the HO2S voltages should go low and the short term fuel trim should go high.

Revs high

If the idle speed is normal until you shift into a gear, the idle air control valve is probably raising the idle speed. Try unplugging the iac motor at idle then shift into drive.
If the IAC is raising the RPM the computer controls it, so for some reason the computer thinks the RPM needs to go up. I am assuming you do not have a check engine light on or you would have checked for trouble codes.
Just for the record, I am showing the same IAC for both transmissions on a 2.0 engine code 3.
Is it possible the battery was disconnected and the learn process needs to be done for the computer to know where normal idle speed is ?

Over-revving

is there a check engine or service soon light on the dash? it sounds to me like either your idle air control valve is faulty or the fuel system temperature sender is faulty(you car doesnt know it needs to choke itself when its cold) be careful forcing it to start with the throttle. if its running lean you could damage your engine.

Car stalls at idle (sometimes), and often acts like it wants to stall at low speed after the engine has been running a long time or in a drive-thru. Symptoms are rough idle, dimming headlights, engine...

I believe you have 2 different problems here. P0410 is the secondary air injection, which only turns on when the engine is cold at first start up for about 20 seconds. All it does is blow extra air into the exhaust to reduce emmisions. There are 3 fuses and items that run this system: Check Valve ($125), Air Pump ($280) and Relay ($50). Prices came from Napa, so I'm possitive you'll find any of these much cheaper elsewhere. My guess is the relay since you have dimming.

Did you recently have the battery disconnected? Trying to address the stalling while at idle. If so, it's your throttle body, needs to be cleaned. If you want instructions on how to do this yourself, let me know, will only cost you about $4. I know the dealer charges about $85 to clean this where I live, which is outrageous! If you do have a shop do the work, make them remove the throttle body to clean it, don't just clean the outside of it.

Even if you don't do this work yourself, at least you know the lingo and shouldn't be surprised.

Good luck!
