SOURCE: My engine light came on. error codes show P2195 and P1166

The fuel pump is vapor locking, common problem in high temp/altitude states. Call the dealer and see if campaign t-13 applies to your car, if the car was originally sold in a low altitude state, it won't apply. I recommend the fuel pump be replaced with updated fuel pump sub assy.

Code P1297(Connection turbocharger - throttle valve pressure hose) is related to air delivery to the engine. Unfortunately there is many components that could caused this code. For 1.8 engine the most common places to look for:
Check for damaged vacuum lines, next check over-bust valve(located in the intake hose) if holding vacuum, than I would check intake hose itself for damage or leaks. Some times broken throttle body can cause that fault (idle fluctuation). Lastly if car lack of power- damaged turbocharger can cause insufficient intake pressure.

- Ignition Coil F Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction
The ignition signal from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Electronic Control Module(ECM) is sent to and amplified by the power transistor. The power transistor turns ON and OFF the ignition coil primary circuit. This ON/OFF operation induces the proper high voltage in the coil secondary circuit.

Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/Loss of Power
- The engine may be harder to start
- Engine hesitation

Possible Causes:
- Open or short in the ignition coil circuit
- Ignition coil circuit shorted to ground
- Ignition coil connector
- Damaged ignition coil
- Damaged PCM or ECM

Possible Solution:
- If damage, repair ignition coil circuit
- Replaced ignition coil
- Replaced PCM or ECM

P0152 - O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
The heated oxygen sensor 1 is placed into the exhaust manifold. It detects the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas compared to the outside air. The heated oxygen sensor 1 has a closed-end tube made of ceramic zirconia. The zirconia generates voltage from approximately 1V in richer conditions to 0V in leaner conditions. The heated oxygen sensor 1 signal is sent to the ECM. The ECM adjusts the injection pulse duration to achieve the ideal air-fuel ratio. The ideal air-fuel ratio occurs near the radical change from 1V to 0V.

Symptoms:
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- High Fuel Consumption
- Excessive Smoke from Exhaust

Possible Causes:
- Harness or connectors (The heated oxygen sensor 1 heater circuit is open or shorted.)
- Front Heater oxygen sensor heater (Bank 2) may be faulty

Possible Solution:
Replacing the O2 Sensor 1 usually takes care of the problem

P0174 - Fuel Injection System Too Lean Bank 2
With the Air/Fuel Mixture Ratio Self-Learning Control, the actual mixture ratio can be brought closely to the theoretical mixture ratio based on the mixture ratio feedback signal from the heated oxygen sensors 1. The ECM calculates the necessary compensation to correct the offset between the actual and the theoretical ratios.

In case the amount of the compensation value is extremely large (The actual mixture ratio is too lean.), the ECM judges the condition as the fuel injection system malfunction and light up the MIL (2 trip detection logic).

Symptoms:
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Excessive Fuel Consumption

Possible Causes:
- Intake air leaks
- Front Heated oxygen sensor may be faulty
- Injectors may be faulty
- Exhaust gas leaks
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- Lack of fuel
- Mass air flow sensor may be faulty
- Incorrect PCV hose connection

Possible Solution:
Dirty air filter of faulty air flow sensor are common causes of the problem.

P2197 - DODGE - Sys Too Rich at Hier Load Bank1
Means that the O2 sensors on each bank are seeing WAY too much oxygen in the exhaust gas. In normal operation the signal from the O2 sensors should swing back and forth between rich and lean. Your sensors are locked on lean.

Those codes are the same as P0174 (and P0171). Sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Most common place is the PCV elbow where it connects to the throttle body adapter.

HO2S-11 Controller Adaptive Test (Bank 1)
Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, engine running in closed loop for 2-3 minutes, and the PCM detected the Short Term fuel trim was less than -12.5% or more than +12.5%; or it detected the Long Term fuel trim value was less than -12.5%, or more than +22.4% for 5-10 seconds in the test.
Possible Causes:

P1166 Negative feedback from the 02 control,in better terminology its taking in false air,and it cant control it,The solution your engine has a MAF (Mass air flow), inspect this air duct for looseness,or cracks that can cause false air into the intake, this include the intake manifold gasket, and even the air filter condition.Something that can cause a lean condition from false air to low fuel pressure.But mainly false air.The location go to the front where the main engine pulley is at. (Some engine are transversed). You have 2 valve cover gasket the closet one to you is the first bank ,the one farthest away from you is the second bank,rule of thumb where cylinder number one is that is bank one.And sensor 1,the first sensor.

DTC P0452 - FTP (Fuel Tank Pressure) sensor circuit low voltage
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor signal in order to detect vacuum decay and excess vacuum during the enhanced Evaporative Emission (EVAP) diagnostic. The PCM supplies a 5-volt reference and ground to the sensor. The FTP sensor signal voltage increases when the fuel tank pressure decreases. Negative pressure or vacuum indicates high voltage. The FTP sensor signal voltage decreases when the fuel tank pressure increases. Positive pressure indicates low voltage. This DTC sets when the FTP sensor signal goes below a predetermined value.

Circuit Description
The Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor responds to changes in the fuel tank pressure or vacuum. This information is used in order to detect vacuum decay or an excessive vacuum during the EVAP diagnostic routing. The fuel tank pressure sensor signal voltage to the VCM varies from a minimum of about 0.1 volts with pressure in the fuel tank to above 4.0 volts with a high vacuum in the fuel tank.

The Fuel Tank Pressure sensor display on the scan tool has an auto zero feature which occurs at each ignition cycle and is corrected according to the barometric pressure. Because of this, the Fuel Tank Pressure sensor display may not accurately reflect the actual output of the sensor or the conditions within the fuel tank.

The Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor diagnosis table is intended to isolate and diagnose the electrical problems with the sensor wiring or the sensor.

Conditions for Running the DTC
The ignition switch is in the RUN position.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
The fuel tank pressure sensor voltage is less than 0.1 volt for more than 5 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The VCM turns ON the MIL after 2 consecutive driving cycles with the fault active.

Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC
* The Control Module turns OFF the MIL after X trips when the test has Run and Passed.
* A history DTC will clear if no fault conditions have been detected for 40 warm-up cycles (coolant temperature has risen 22°C (40°F) from the start-up coolant temperature and the Engine Coolant Temperature is more than 70°C (158°F) during the same ignition cycle).
* Use the scan tool Clear Information function.

Diagnostic Aids
1. Inspect the Control Module harness connectors for the following conditions:
* Improper mating
* Broken locks
* Improperly formed
* Damaged terminals

2. Inspect the wiring harness for damage. If the harness appears to be OK, observe the Fuel Tank Pressure sensor display on the scan tool while moving the connectors and the wiring harnesses related to the sensor. A change in the display will indicate the location of the fault.

Test Description
The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.

I have a 2002 kia rio the code that came up is p1166 how do i fix


P1166. Primary HO2S (No. 1) Heater System Electrical.

Replace O2 sensor. Iif it smells rich then you are getting too much fuel. You may have a problem with the fuel pressure regulator or a leaking fuel injector. This can also be caused by bad oxygen sensors.

P1166 O2 Sensor - controller adaption diagnosis malfunction (bank 1).

Trouble area:

* P1166 is case for HO2S (Bank 1, Sensor 1) Signal line open
* Fuel system (Fuel tank/Pressure regulator/Fuel pump/PSV) failure
* Poor connection to fuel line hose/sealing/cut
* Sealing between purge valve and fuel tank
* Air leakage in exhaust system
* Ignition system (ignition coil, spark plug, cable) failure

I have a 2005 honda civic si recently my check engine light came on showing the following codes they are P1259 and P1166


P1259 is a code for vtec malfunction usually cause by a bad vtec solenoid, vtec pressure sensor, low oil level, bad connection. Was oil change done? May want to check the oil level. P1166 is a code for a primary o2 sensor 1.
