1997 should have throttle body injectors run some good quality injector cleaner in it

92 jeep cherokee will not start when hot,starts when you hold the gas pedal to the floor ? Then runs ruff cuts off.

replace the fuel filter then check the air/fuel mix needle valve according to manufacturer specs. Sounds like you have way to rich a fuel mixture.

Hello. Your engine might be burning transmission fluid when shifted into reverse. If bands were out of adjustment, it just wouldn't move...or very slowly.

2000 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 drove it in for overheating. It failed the block test ,pulled the cly head found it to be cracked. Replaced it with a reman head put it back together and tried to start it I have...

check all your ground wires and look make sure no wires are pinched between head and block also check the distribitor for wear wobbling around in side of it

Lost power , ruff idle , stalls at stop. hard start . idles ruff . when put into gear . it stalls

sounds like your catalytic converter is clogged and not letting your exhaust gasses escape.. have a quality muffler shop check it out. you will notice because it will be red hot..

If you have a carb you do not have a map or IAC valve. They are on fuel injected throttle body setups. You really should go to an auto parts store and get a book if your really interested.

It might be your throttle position sensor or the air idle control valve they both are on the throttle body.

SOURCE: where is the throttle position

TPS is on the rear of the throttle body the throttle shaft that is attached to the gas pedal cable passes through the TB and goes directly into the TPS.

the problem is the crank sensor , it is located on the transmission on the drivers side. it will cost about 75 dollars and its hard to reach. if you go to you-tube you will find a video about it. you will be glad you watched the video.
