ok i had kinda the same problem. if your father or bf is decent with mechanics ask him to check any see if there is any spark if not tell him to check the cranksensor to c if there is an current going to it, also when u go to start the car is there a (theft system light that comes on in the dash and flashes if so, turn the key fully as if you were going to start the car but dont crank it and leave it be for about 15-20mins or until the light stops flashing. then turn the key off and try start again. the thing is that when u install a stereo into one of these cars theres a anti theft system that stops fuel from going to the injectors. thats why when u install a aftermarket stereo u are supose to get eh harness so that it doesnt engage the ats(anti theft system). and if there is no current going to the crank sensor cut the wire long enough to hood an extra wire to it and then hook it up to ignition fuse in the fuse box(inside the car) this will send a a current to the crank sensor so when u turn the key on it will start. this is only a temperary fix. just gives u enough time to pick up the money to bring the car to the garage and get it checked correctly. anything else just ask. SOURCE: lights go out on dash DIC
make sure you clean your positive battery terminal. It can be quite corroded in there without any outside signs. Next check ground connections (main ground is under the underhood fuse box...is it rusted down there? If it's none of those, start looking at the ignition switch.

SOURCE: HUD will not light up
If you peek down inside the windshield, you'll probably see the HUD is working. A common issue is that the adjustment spring will break, making the HUD invisible because it is adjusted out of range. The spring can be replaced by removing the cluster then the HUD unit.

The Antilock Brake Hydraulic Control Unit is directly under the air cleaner box. Is your Antilock Brake light coming on?
