Question about 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Open Question

I have a 2005 chrysler town and country 3.8 with a 871 code, what's wrong?

Barely goes into gear, won't shift out of 1st and reverse has little power. It has codes 700, 871, 732, 733, & 740. All this happened at one time.

Had the input speed sensor, output sensor & solenoid pack changed but with in 1 or 2 miles or when the engine heats up good it starts to slip and hesitate going into 2nd & 3rd and make a light whining sound. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

SOURCE: trans

Check the speed sensor on the tranny cause if the speedometer is not working the tranny will not shift. The computer will not recognize that the transmission is in motion so will not shift.

There is an ecu flash for this repair. You may get the locks to start working again with a battery disconnect.

What would cause my 1999 town & country not to move in any gear

Make sure that your axles aren't broken. If you have a broken axle the power would transfer to the wheel with the least amount of resistance (to the broken axle) therefore not propelling the vehicle. Also look at your fluid level and condition. It is possible that the transmission is slipping in which case you'd need a transmission/rebuild.

You may have a problem with a solenoid or pressure problem in the transaxle.

96 chrysler town country wont shift into third gear

If it starts out in 2nd gear & dosn't shift, it is probably in a limp in mode. the system will need to be diagnosed & computer satisfied. sometimes disconnecting the battery will reset the computer & allow the trans to shift untill it sees the problem again. I recomend getting the codes read first so the memory will not be erased.
