Re: lost keys require new locks for BMW X3
Replacing the complete lock set with the EWS control unit can be expensive as the control unit will also need to be programed and/or encoded, however if the lost keys cannot be found and you are sure they cannot be used to steel you car you can just order replacement keys from your local bmw dealer. hope this is of some help. You will also nead to disable the lost keys if you order replacements rather than a complete set.

So more information is needed as a few things could be happening. Such as does the vehicle have keyless entry and a key fob, Also this vehicle may use what is called a master key which must be present when a new key is added. I am assuming you are trying to reprogram a new key and perhaps you are at the point of programming that requires locking or unlocking through the vehicle master (driver-door) switch. I posted a link to a couple ways to program a new key as more then one option exists for manual programming which is programming without a BMW scan tool. One other thing to check is the actual door that was opened, look closely at the latch and make sure it is not damaged and or a little lever may exist to disable the automatic lock unlock. If you see a little slot with a metal tab, that may need to be switched back to allow the lock to work. You can test this by using the key in the door to attempt to unlock it manually. http://www.programyourkeys.com/BMW_X5_Key_Remote_Control_Fob_Programming.html

Might be as simply as a new battery. Remove battery from vehicle and bring it to a repair shop or Sears Auto Center (they are the battery, and charging system Kings) and have them load test the battery. If battery fails purchase a new battery . Once the vehicle is up and running take it back to them and have them test the charging system and determine whether the vehicle has battery drain .
These keys have inbuild sensor in them these can be made by the dealers only or you need to replaced the whole locking unit which will cost you more , So its good to contact the dealer ,it is the problem BMW you need to contact them and prove the car is your and run through lot of process and there no other local lock snith on your car ..................
