Its your idle control valve it is located under your air injection on the right standing in front of the car, toward the firewall, there will be a black hose connected to it aprox. 2.5" in diameter, remove the air intake hose (black hose), remove the throttle cables and hoses. For best results, use different color fingernail polish to mark the hoses and where they come from, remove the 3 or 4 bolts, slide the air injection unit off, turn it 180 degrees to bottom side, remove the bolts from the idle control valve, you will know the idle control valve because when removing the hoses they will have antifreeze in them.

I have a 1988 Camry with 57000 original miles on it. At low idle, it stalls occasionally. Is there a way to turn up the idle to mitigate the stalling? SB

I don't believe so. Try removing the air filter and see if this helps. If it does replace it. also replace the fuel filter if you haven't done it within the last 9 to 12 months. Tune up?

1999 Toyota Camry V6 idles rough and stalls after starting. No check engine lights and runs fine otherwise. Has only happened three times in the last two months. After keeping the idle up and running car...

yes it could be a fuel related problem, when was your last tune up, it could also be a spark issue, old or corroted spark plugs will sometimes not put out the correct amount of heat to ignite the gas correctly till it runs for a while, if the check engine light isnt lit, it will almost have to be something simular to this

Semi loud vibrating sound when car is idle, does this mean a tune up or timing belt problem? 1996 Camry

Not sure of the mileage requirement for a timing belt change, but the problem could be multiple things, many of which a tune up would find & repair:
Plugs & Plug wires
fuel filter
air filter
Any of the emissions systems

If fuel filter or air filter are due for replacement, can start there relatively cheap.

How many miles total on vehicle? How many miles since any major work or tuneup? Has timing belt ever been changed & if so, when?

Does sound go away totally when driving? Try driving along side a wall, where the sound can bounce back at you, with windows open, radio & A/C off, to see if you hear anything. Wondering about exhaust system leaks.

Need more information to determine more likely causes.

The only way, for shure is to go to computer diagnostics. 99% sure that this is some engine sensor, buy only diagnostics will tell who. (130,000 miles, hm lamda. it have only 150,000km live)

When the engine is not cold, it idles at below 400 rpm and stops

have the throttle body cleaned it is restricting air flow from having to much carbon in the intake yes and also it is time for plugs and wires.
