SOURCE: electrical issue
Not sure this is the solution..but the same thing happened to me several times over a few month span. After many attempts to fix a number of items (alternator, etc.), I was told that there was a problem with the radio, and that it had to be "factory reset." My local dealer got some kind of code from Ford and fixed the problem. I haven't had a problem for over a year.

SOURCE: car wont start
First clean all battery terminals ensure there is no corrotion, after cleaning them light coat with a dab of grease to protect from further corrosion.
Although the lights may work, the battery may not have enough power to kick the starter over.
Since you specified no noise, suggest you check the starter solenoid first. Ensure the battery is good and holding the charge.
5 years old, time for a new one. 3 years old, need to have it check for CCA (Cold Cranking Amps)
Ensure your alternator is working properly. May not be charging the battery.

will the steering wheel turn? if it is locked, then pull the wheel to one side as hard as you can and try to turn the key. if that doesn't work, try pulling the wheel in the other direction. if that isn't the problum, then your anti-theft system has been enabled. read your owners manual to see if you can disable it yourself, but most of the time you will need to have it towed to a ford dealership where they will most likelly reprogram the car.

check all battey connections and system grounds. Check that the battery has 12v and holds properly when load tested. To check charging system, don't disconnect any battery leads...put a volt meter across the battery. when running, you should have at least 12.9v and volts should not drop. (usual reading is generally at or near 13) at idle with all accessories on voltage should be close to that as well. voltage should not exceed 14.Also make sure that drive belt is not slipping.

no starter relay is always at the fuse relay box at the engine compartment. The relay that you hear is the relay for the accessories to turn off the power during starting position.
