Does the engine idle go up and down? if so then you might want to read and follow instructions in this article: http://www.search-autoparts.com/searchautoparts/Technical/MR2-Hard-Knocks/ArticleLong/Article/detail/10201

It may or may not answer your question, but as an MR2 owner you might want to know this stuff. I suggest you sign up on some forums like MR2oc.com and search for some others...this should help you to really enjoy the sweetness of your ride. Hope this helps!

Good Luck!

Cant get into any gears at all while my car is on but when the car is off it perfectly slides in

sounds like a clutch problem. if the clutch is constantly engaged, you won't be able to get it into gear. Check your clutch/brake fluid level and perhaps you will have to replace the master or slave cylinders. First, try bleeding the clutch line (it's hydrolic, with a nipple like a brake line, near the front of the transmission, accessible from underneath the car.)
Also, you can test this theory pretty easily. If you put it in first, and put in the clutch, and start the car, does it lurch forward? If it does, your clutch is not releasing.

2004 Camry lurches forward when stopping.

Sounds like the torque converter isn't unlocking quick enough. Drive at 45mph,keep foot on gas and use other foot to touch the brake and watch the tach to see if it speeds up,when converter releases. Check trans fluid level hot.If it is more than a couple years old, change. Use the correct fluid for Toyota and add a bottle of Lubgard. Have the throttle positon senor scanned and check any idle control circuits. Throttle Body may need cleaning.

Hi ive got a 1991 mr2 turbo it seems i cant select my gears properly if i do get a gear it creeps forward with the engine off i get the gears ok and the clucth feels very soft any ideas please

You need a slave cylinder and possibly a clutch kit.
Contact www.twosrus.com for parts. If this car has over 80K I would replace both and get the flywheel resurfaced and save the headaches that can creep up later on.
