SOURCE: Location of oil filter on Nissan Altima 2005

The oil filter is located behind the right (passenger) inner fender cover. It is right next to the crankshaft pulley at the bottom of the front of the engine facing toward the right front wheel. I do not have a picture at this time.

Hope this is helpful!

SOURCE: nissan altima 2002 burning excesive oil what to

You have to identify where the oil is leaking. Check the spark plugs if it has oil, you may just need to replace the oil seal in the plugs. If you meant actual burning from the exhaust, you may want to check the head gasket and the piston rings if the oil seeps into the combustion chamber.

Where is the oil sending unit located on a 1999 nissan altima?

Not exactly sure about 1999 model but It's usually located next to the oil filter with a wire coming out of it or with in the oil drain area. It's about $12 to replace.
For vehicles with an indicator light, the sending unit is like a simple switch. When the engine is off, or the pressure is too low, the switch closes, and illuminates the lamp. Under pressure, the switch is open and the lamp goes out. The only difference in the above test, is with the wire disconnected, the light is out, and with the wire grounded, the light is on. I have a 95 nissan altima and the oil ligth stays on for 15 seconds when its cold but then gos of, but then on stops lights it blinks.

1st I have to ask, it the oil clean and full, with a new filter? I know, it is. Just have to make sure.
2nd There is a sending unit for that vehicle that may be malfunctioning.
3rd you may have a weak oil pump. The only real test for this is to have your mechanic tap directly into the sending unit port with a manual oil pressure guage.
Obviously if the pum is bad it will need replacing which is unfortunately a costly venture.
