Question about 1992 Ford F250

1 Answer

My ford f250 (460 automatic) will only start when I disconnect the (battery and reconnect) and then will only start once. Is this security?(had steering column apart)

It initially wouldn't shut off (with key) so I looked in the book and figured out which fuse to pull(which worked)(the key would turn but nothing happened, would still start with key). I was doing this for about a week (disconcerting the battery when not in use)(pulling fuse to shut off). When I finally got around to fixing, I took the steering column apart and took out ignition switch. after that i could start/turn off using the switch but i could only hit the starter once and the second time it wouldn't turn over until I disconnected/reconnected the battery. The second time I hit the starter the stereo would go off as if it was cranking and I could still start it by grounding the solenoid.

SOURCE: my 1980 ford bronco wont

it sounds like the battery has a problem with it and needs replacing,as you try to start the truck it pulls all the voltage out of the battery(which is very little in the battery)causing the clicking sound you hear, make sure the battery cable connections are tight and clean, both the terminals and cable ends.it takes very little voltage to power up a radio or lights and they probably stop working shortly after they are turned on.

How to reset computer on 1993 ford f250

Ford technical hotline told me to leave battery disconnected half an hour to reset but that didn't work. I left it overnight and it worked.

Once the defaults are restored the vehicle should be started and driven in a mixed fashion until at least full working temperature is reached.

Ford security light flashing,no start

I had a 1995 F150 with a recall bulletin for an electrical problem in the doors. Took the truck to Midway Ford, they worked on the truck, parked it up on the hill East of the shop. When I got there the truck started, the alarm triggered and when they checked out their work, they had failed to re-connect a wire inside the drivers door. Have you had wiring connections opened recently? You might want to recheck the connections if you have. That was the only time the truck did anything like that and after they reconnected the wire I had no more electrical problems with it.

Security System

you appear to have blown some fuses, you never play with electronics like the dash with power connected, you can short things out, blow things up. disconnect your battery first, remove the panels you removed earlier and check carefully for burnt wires damaged plugs etc then reassemble checking all fuses as you go, don't forget to check all earth points. after it is back together reconnect the battery taking care that connections are good and the battery is charged, now that i have scared you, the problem was probably only a bad connection on the battery but you can damage the BCM doing what you did, that may lead into repair in excess of $1000

Replaced battery in my 1993 jeep grandcherokee limited now security system seems to cut fuel off seconds after engin fires

Here's some info as it sound like the theft deterrent is armed.

---
Reset Procedure

NOTE: This information applies to a Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) that was armed when the battery was disconnected and reconnected.

When the armed VTSS senses that the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, it enters its power-up mode. In the power-up mode the alarm system remains armed following a battery failure or disconnect. If the VTSS was armed prior to a battery disconnect or failure, the system will have to be actively or passively disarmed following a battery reconnection.

The power-up mode will also apply if the battery goes dead while the system is armed and battery jump-starting is attempted. The engine no-run feature will prevent the engine from starting until the alarm system has been actively or passively disarmed.

Passive disarming of the Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) occurs when the vehicle is unlocked using the key to unlock either front door or the liftgate. Active disarming of the VTSS occurs when the vehicle is unlocked by depressing the Unlock button of the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.

Once the alarm has been activated (horn sounding, lights flashing, and the engine no-run feature), either disarming method will deactivate the alarm.

Depressing the Panic button (if equipped) on the RKE transmitter will also disarm the VTSS, but the horn will sound and the lights will flash for about three minutes as part of the Panic feature. The horn and lights can be stopped by pressing any of the RKE transmitter's buttons or driving the vehicle above 15 mph.

How do you reset a '03 Ford F250 security system?

disconnect the positive cable on the battery for 10 minutes. this will reset the trucks computer and the security system.when you reconnect the battery, you'll need to lock the doors and unlock them.with the key , usually locking the doors manually with the key does the trick, but if you've already done this, try disconnecting the battery for 10minutes. that should do it for you. if your batterys weak, your security system may go off to alert you that somethings wrong. if it resets, suggest you have the battery tested or being bad. thank you for choosing fixya.com!

with the key turned on disconnect the positive post of the battery and reconnect it again. Make sure you leave your window down incase the doors lock automatically.Once you have reconnected the battery try starting your car. I have seen this work several times but no quarantee. Also you will have to reset the code to your radio.Hope this helps.

Security lights flashing after battery cable removal-no start

Anytime you disconnect and reconnect your battery, the factory alarm will arm upon reconnection and the truck will not start. You have to close your doors, then manually lock and unlock the door with your key. This should turn off the security system and you should be able to start the truck.
