Outside door handle on 1997 olds cutlass will not open door

The only way to fix it is to pull off the inner door panel and have a look. If the handle is broken, you will see the two nuts holding the handle to the door. If the latch rod from the handle to the latch has come loose, reattach the rod into the hole on the handle and secure it with the plastic clip.
The door handles are a common problem on those models. Made with cheap parts, they break easily.

How to install rear door handle on a 2006 nissan pathfinder

Check on youtube for videos on it. You will have to remove the inner door panel-the hardest part-to get to it. Then take off the latch rods-unclip them and remove the two screws or bolts holding the old handle to the door frame, then as you remove it, work the latch rods out of their respective holes.

Compare both items outside the vehicle. Are they both exactly the same? Then they. Should fit in the same place. If not, you have the wrong part and it will never fit. If you have solved your problem please get back to us so others can be helped, thanks.

How to replace a Liftgate Latch Handle on a 2005 Chevrolet Uplander?

First of you need to take the panel of the rear door from the inside then you can just grab the rod and pop it open. With the door panel off it is an easy thing to replace the handle just a couple screws are bolts to take lose .Also make sure you put the rods back just like you take them off may I suggest taking a picture if you can of the latch inside the door. Good luck.

Hood latch

You will have to buy a new hood release cable. Expect to pay in the range of 40.00 for one.
It is a pretty simple replacement. Unhook from the outside hood latch and pull through to the inside.
Of course you will have to remove the screws on the inside handle assembly to remove it.
Just feed it back through the way the old one came out.
Try O'Reilly's or Advance places like that.

Removed door handle and there is a cable that is attached to the handle that is broken (driver's side) and I'd like to know how to remove the cable inside the door to replace it.

to remove the old cable and to install the new one you will need to remove the latch and then unhook cable from the latch. remove the screws on the outside and then you will need to unhook any linkage connected like outside handle rod going to latch, take note of the location of anything removed from the lacth and how it goes on and where, this can get confusing when putting it back together, good day,

How do you get the old tailgate latch out of the tailgate?

The latch or handle? both will need you to take the bezzel off from around the handle on the tailgate. Careful but dont feel bad if it breaks 9/10 will usually. Then there will be 2 rods coming from each latch connected with a snap over plastic clip carefully move those off the rods and now the rods can be removed. If it is the handle you are replacing then unbolt from the backside and change. If it is the latches unbolt from the sides and it will slide out of the handle opening. Steve

Attach the clip to the rod from the outside handle to the latch

You should get a new clip because the old ones don't usually last very well once they are taken off. They're cheap at the dealer. Put the clip in the hole of the latch first, then slide the rod into the clip and fasten it to the rod. It just pushes onto the rod.
When the rod is hanging from the door latch it should line up with only one hole. Hope this helps.

How do I replace tailgate handle

I just finished replacing mine. It took about an hour. Here's my step by step.
1. take off the two outside bolts on the inside of the tailgate behind the handle.
2. Now gently pull off the cladding around the latch. It is still held on by two christmas tree style holders.
3. Tie some long ropes to each of the two rods that the handle pulls together. You don't want them getting away from you.
4. Now free the rods from the plastic clamps. This is the point of no return. Mine would not go back together. A small screw driver shoved in from the end along the seam will pop them easily.
5. Now remove the remaining 3 T40 bolts on the back of the tailgate.
6. The handle assembly is now free to come out. Hold on to it as you lift the tailgate back up. Don't shut the tailgate all the way.
7. Work the old handle out. I did not take any of the cladding off. It took about five minutes of gentle manipulations to get it out. I did have to pull on the metal tongue that comes up right in front of it.
8. Pop the replacement plastic clamps into their corrent places in the new handle. Hinge side down. Don't fasten them.
9. Put the new handle in the same way you took the old one out.
10. Attach with the 3 T40 bolts. Dont fully tighten, just snug. I would recommend some blue loctite as well.
11. Now shut the tailgate so that it latches. Place the pull rods in the plastic clamps and fasten them. Don't pull on the rods, just put them in the clamps.
12. Your door should work now. Try it a couple of times. Pull on both sides of the tailgate to make sure each is held tight. If so, tighten up all the bolts, put the cladding on, and your done.
13. If your door won't latch, the rods are being pulled together too much. Undue the plastic clamps, push the rods apart and reset them in the clamps.
