Check the plastic vacuum lines that control it.... many find the problem is the soft dry rubber that connects the plastic tubes has rotted and leaked.
colors for the tubes are yellow, red, white, and green, but vary from car to car.
They connect behind the control and go under hood/pass side near the firewall.

Defrorstores stay on ,try to change to floor, ac, heat vent ,deforstores still on 1995 thunderbird lx blower motor works great.

Some cars use vacuum from the engine to open and close the doors that direct the air to different positions. It is possible that the vacuum line to the controls is cracked or disconnected.

I have a 2007 dodge 2500 diesel and the heater will only heat up to a very light heat.

Mode Door 1.
a.This door regulates air flow to either the dash vents or defrost/floor. If you have air flowing only through the vents with no defrost or floor, this door is failing. From our experience, this door is usually the first domino to fail. Not sure why, just is.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->4.Mode Door 2.
a.When mode door 1 is set to divert air away from the vents and into the second stage of the system, door #2 chooses whether air goes to the defrost vents to the windshield or out through the floor vents in the passenger and driver's side footwells. Failure is indicated by an inability to choose between defrost and floor.
b.This door turns out to be the most difficult to replace. In order to replace the door, the dash panel has to be removed. It's still better than the dealer fix because you don't have to evacuate the AC system, drain the radiator, and remove the plenum box. But it is more work than the other fixes. When this door breaks, it falls in the down position, blocking the floor vents and diverting all air through the defrost vents. From a safety standpoint, this is good since you'd most likely rather have a clear windshield than warm feet. We suspect that a large percentage of customers will just leave this door unrepaired. You will have heat through the dash vents and to the windshield, just nothing to the floor. It's inconvenient, but you'll have to make the determination if warm feet are worth the extra work to fix the door. An extra pair of socks is easier.

I have a 2000 Ford Mustang GT and the AC and heat both work, but they only blow through the defrost and floor. Is this an expensive repair?

It actually sounds very simple. There is a vacuum line that goes through the firewall from the control panel to the engine. If this is disconnected or broken the default is defrost. I would check under the hood really good and inspect all the vacuum lines.

1999 blazer heat on the floor dont work just blows out the defrost. heat works good just cant get it to blow on the floor. is this a problem in the swich or vacume

Most likely the vacuum. The (door) that switches the heat from floor, dash, defrost, isn't switching. The door could be stuck and even though it maybe trying switch, it can't from being stuck or in a bind.

No floor heat

Many vehicles have a vacuum actuated valve (or flap) internal to the console vent plumbing. The vaccum line going to this valve/vac solenoid may be bad, unhooked or not functioning. In GM products, IIRC, the vac lines inside the vehicle are made of hard plastic, off-white in color (some have a slight green tinge) and are not easily flexible.

Check down under the dash where the floor output is and see if you see some of the plumbing of which I write. Then check to see if there are any loose lines, etc.
