Have an auto parts store scan the computer for you.
They most often do this for free (oreilly auto parts and autozone)

Write down the code they give you. Should start with "P" (po442, P1406, etc)

That will be the problem, and they will most likely offer you the part right there.

Toyota is big about EVAP system trouble codes (chech engine lights)

But it could be anything, so this should be an easy fix.

You can even ask them at the parts store where the trouble part is located.

let me know once you find the problem code and I can help more.

Yes, Eric. Advance auto scanned. Code is p1150. Thank you. It is a fuel problem...but can drive it. What do you say? A.s.marci. Thanks

you can drive it, but the problem is most likely the air/fuel sensor. (Mechanics will understand bank 2 sensor 2) The sensor looks like an O2 sensor and is on the back side of the exhaust near the firewall. You can google "2000 sienna air fuel sensor" to get a pic of what it looks like, as well as cheaper prices than most parts stores. hope this helps.

2000 toyota sienna enging knock when start up. engine knocks briefly than goes away after sitting a couple hours

it may be from a complete drain back of sump oil
check that you have a good quality oil filter in place with an anti-drain back valve in place ( cheap filters omit this valve)
check the viscosity of the oil you are using as it may be to light for the conditions

How to reset check engine light warning

normally to reset a check engine light all you have to do is unhook the battery for a couple of minutes and then hook it back up. if you are having a sensor problem though this check engine light will come back on after you drive the vehicle for more than 3 minutes.

Check engine light on 2000 sienna went off when new battery was installed, then went back on

I forgot to mention. when you remove a battery, it resets the engine light, but the trouble part will cause it to come back on.

After you replace the trouble part, the auto parts places do not like to reset the light for you. You can either remove the battery connection for a few minutes to clear it after you fix it, or in many cases, just drive with the light on, and after a few hours/days/trips around the neighborhood, the system will see the part is now good, and it will reset on it's own.

You can buy a cheap ($50) basic OBD2 scan tool and follow the instructions on how to scan the computer yourself and also reset/clear the check engine light.

The plug is near your knees under the driver side dash... should be marked OBD

Why does the check engine light stay on in 1999 sienna ...it went off after new battery was installed...thenon again

The engine light stays on because the computer has detected a fault code, when disconnecting the battery the memory is cleared but the fault code will eventually be set in the computer again until the problem is fixed, since there are many reasons for the check engine light to come on it is necessary to connect the vehicle to a diagnostic computer that can read the codes, this can be done at most repair shops, the dealer or some autoparts stores.

I have a toyota sienna 2000 and the light from the door are flashind and the light from the roof too and when we put the key its start clicking like a noise

sounds like you have a weak battery. have a load test performed on the battery and also check your battery terminals for corrosion and a tight clean connection. good luck.

Check engine light on

U can either turn it off with a engine scan tool or disconnect the battery for 5 min's, if u disconnect the battery u may activate your anti-theft systems, so I recommend u have it turned off with a scan tool. A quick note: If the problem in the engine controls that turned the light on is not repaired the light will come back on in 20-30 miles.
