SOURCE: chevy astro van turns over but wont start when

Check to see if the fuel pump is kicking in,
when you turn the key on without starting the van you should hear it kick on for about 2 seconds,

It could be...
A clogged fuel filter...
Blown fuse for the pump..or bad pump relay..
No gas
Bad fuel pump

SOURCE: 2001 astro chevy van 4.3 engines need to set the timing

The distributor in that engine can only be installed in one position. The hold down is built onto the distributor meaning when it is installed and the engine runs the computer is responsible for the timing. The distributor will move a little but won't correct major timing errors.

SOURCE: How do I remove the dashboard from my 2000 Chevy Astro Van?

Paul is right you can go to radio shack or autozone schucks or any parts store and ask for the removal tool it cost $20.00 tops. Trust me you don't want to undo the dash as the air bag could detonate if you shorted the two wires that can control it and it could kill you.

My 1992 Chevy Astro Van starts but shuts off. I service it, plugs, distributor cap, wires etc. When I start it it back fires, and cuts off. Lester R. Thurston Nassau, Bahamas

Did it backfire beofre you did the service? I'm guessing you have the wires mixed up.

Firing order 1-6-5-4-3-2, Distributor rotates clockwise

Hope this helps.

I replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter on the 1992 Van. I have very little pressure at the injectors and they will not open and spray the fuel. What can the problem be? I can hear the pump run in the...

This van is TBI right? then its only 14psi of fuel pressure. to check fuel presssure a adapter is needed at the filter. I would verify fuel pressure first.

Can't reach the spark Plugs

Vans can be tough. I am assuming you can get the old plugs out. You can try this trick to replace them, get a short piece oh hose and shove the top of the new plug into the hose. Then use the hose as an extension to install the new plugs, a hose is good since it makes it hard to cross thread the plug. Good luck.
