Question about 1995 Eagle Talon

2 Answers

95 Talon runs rich; currently won't start.

When I first bought this talon from a friend (which sat outside for six months), I changed the plugs and saw carbon buildup on the otherwise good plugs. I got an injection cleaning done at a shop and suddenly the car wouldn't start. The mechanic got it running and said the throttle position sensor needed to be cleaned or replaced. I broke it on accident so I just got a new one. Now my car is sitting in the driveway and won't start for more than a few minutes if at all. When it does run, it sputters and will stall if i even slightly touch the accelerator. I bought it as project for this summer, but I need to keep it running until then and have limited funds at this point for a mechanic. What might be wrong?

Try this replace cam sensor..unfortunially it is behind the cam gear. i know there are other people that say it is not located there. it is..also is the tps in the correct setting? how about is there spark at the plugs? if not CAM SENSOR is the first step if sensor is tested with scanner and it has faults

It sounds like you should try resetting your ECU and letting it idle for a few minutes

When I start my 1990 Talon TSI runs fine as it warms up runs real rich has no power and boost is very high. At low RPM around 2500 its fine after that all hell brakes lose bogs down and wont go ?

check the air cleaner and replace if necessary. ( low air volume = rich mixture ). Check/clean exhaust system as back pressure may be too high at high rpm's. Check fuel quality and do not use e-mix fuels.

1991 2.0 talon, cuts out at higher speeds, runs rich, has new coolant sensor and o2 sensor, ,new plug and wires, did not fit the problem

A solution was given earlier and I would request for a code error check before you chnage spares at random.Check fuel and fuel filter and pump

Why does my 95 talon unexpectantly shut off but starts right back

Most prominent problem you are looking at is the distributor pick up failing, you now have a quick restart but there will be a time when a restart will only be when it has sat a cooled off

My 1997 eagle talon tsi fwd turbo with a 1st gen motor in it. I let my car sit for about 9 months and i charged the battery and it started up just fine and i started it up for about three months after...

The plugs are gas fouled. You can use a propane torch and heat/ burn the electrode end and burn the gas off, get them red hot. While the plugs are out, move the plug wires away from the plug holes and turn the engine over several times to get rid of some of the fuel. by the time the plugs cool off the cylinders should be some what dry. If you don't have a torch get new plugs.

1993 Eagle Talon Tsi starts rough then dies off, bad timing?

First thing you can do to try a simple fix is replace each spark plug, check each plug for signs of fuel/air mixture

if your plug is black is rich, if ur plug is white is lean.

in this case repost your findings. in the mean time if they look golden or light brown, replace them and make sure they are gapped to ur level of psi you are running.

you can find the gap specs for how much boost you are running on most DSM websites or by searching.
