Probably the fuel pump. It starts & runs until the pump gets hot, then when it quits, your car quits.

SOURCE: Crankshaft Position Sensor

The crank sensor is on the front of your engine behind the harmonic balancer. You will need a balancer puller for a 3.8 and a crank sensor alignment tool to do this lob.

SOURCE: i need instructions on how to change a crankshaft

It's behind the harmonnic balance. You WILL need a special puller set for this job. A normal blancer puller will NOT work. Once you get the balance off it is bolted to the engine. I'm not sure where one would find the puller set from besides a tool guy. Some of the auto parts stores have special tools they will loan out. May want to try them. I would imagine that if you need to purchace the tool then it may be cheaper to pay someone to do it. I know they are expecive through the big tool companies. Hope that helps.

I changed the harmonnic ballancer and the sensor and got code p0336 didnt have this code untill I had to change harmonic.

P0336 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance.

Potential causes of a P0336 code include:

  • Bad crank sensor
  • Broken reluctor ring (missing teeth, debris lodged in ring)
  • Reluctor ring dislodged/stripped from it's stationary location
  • Wiring harness chafing causing short
  • Wiring open in CKP circuit, good-day ! CKP=crankshaft position sensor. The Crankshaft position sensor also known as the crank position sensor is an electronic device used in an engine to record the rate at which the crankshaft is spinning. This information is used by the Electronic Control Module(ECM) to control ignition and fuel injection. The sensor system consists of a rotating part, typically a disc, as well as a static part, the actual sensor. good-day !

How u replace crankshaft position sensor

If the engine is a 2.4L four cylinder engine, the crankshaft position sensor is located on the engine, passenger side, where the crankshaft comes out of the engine, on the lower side. You can see the sensor from the top side, with a 2 point wire connector on it. Just disconnect the wire, and use a 10 mm deep socket to disconnect the sensor from the engine. It should come out without spilling any oil, and if you have a new sensor available, be sure to match the O-ring on the old sensor, then lubricate the O-ring with oil, and push the new sensor in, bolt it down, reconnect the wire, and the job is done.

How do i replace the crankshaft position sensor on 2000 grand am gt?

The V6 engine uses two seperate crankshaft sensors to provide two different types of signals. The 24X sensor is mounted behind the harmonic balancer, or crank pulley. This input generates 24 pulses per engine revolution.
The second crankshaft sensor is a 7X sensor that is located on the center rear area of the engine block. As the name implies, it produce 7 pulses per engine revolution.
Good Luck

Code 300 and 330 on 2001 Pontiac Grand Am

po330 is a bad knock sensor, the sensor will cause, sluggish engine, poor acceleration, poor fuel economy. the signal is sent to pcm and the timing is retarded to compensate for the severe detonition. on 4 cylinder models, the knock sensor is located on the rear firewall side of the engine block, below exhaust manifold.on v6 models , the sensor is located on the front radiator side of engine block above the oil filter.

I need instructions on how to change a crank shaft censor on a 2000 pontiac grand prix gt

3.8L Engines
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the serpentine belt(s) from the crankshaft pulley. Please see Section 1.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4. Remove the right front tire assembly. Remove the right inner fender access cover.
  5. A flywheel holding device such as GM's J 37096 is required to keep the crankshaft from turning as the crankshaft balancer is being removed. Install this holding tool or its equivalent. Please see Section 3 for more information.
  6. Using a 28mm socket, remove the crankshaft harmonic balancer retaining bolt. Using special tool J 38197 or equivalent balancer removal tools, drawn the balancer from the end of the crankshaft. Please see Section 3 for more information.
  7. There is a roughly circular aluminum shield that protects the crankshaft position sensor; remove this shield. Use care not to damage it. Do not pry to remove.
  8. Detach the electrical connector from the crankshaft position sensor, remove the attaching bolts and separate the sensor from the engine block face.
