What make and model vehicle. If you clear code and dont fix the cause of the problem code will continue to come up. for example oxy sensors get replaced and code reset and problem re occours due to incorect fuel mixture either being too rich or too lean causing oxy sensor to be out of range

Why can't i clear the codeson my fg falcon

You clear all data-- not just codes

Then when you have not found the
problem & resolved it-- they come back

You did not tell us the entire story here

You provided no codes-- but did say you have
CAN Bus Communication problem

Use your codes & gather info to work on that issue

Without professional tools & wiring diagrams, your sort
of done before you start

How do I turn off my check engine light on my 2005 mercury mountaineer

Well---- you can--- to just have it come back on as
soon as you start the motor or put in gear & move

Have to get your codes, diagnose them, component test
to find a problem & make the repairs

Tell me about the vehicles Preventative Maintenance
Schedule over the last 3 years & give me the codes

I will tell you what has to be done

If you clear the MIL Lamp- you also clear ALL PCM
Data, needed to work on & find the faults

A code reader is the best, not so good to remove a battery
cable, bad things happen,BUT your wasting your time, there
are repairs to be made or you will & I suspect have ruined
plenty already, just using it

I have a d15b automatic transmission on my 94 honda sedan my car struggles to make its gear changes no matter how much I press the gas pedal the rpm will go crazy my speedometer will show im going at 60...

check the colour of the transmission oil. IT should be a bright cherry red . If not have it changed as that may be the burning smell.. Have a pressure test done to check for internal faults . Clean the oil filter and have a band and clutch pack adjustment done while the pan is off. Run fault codes as the fault may be from a bad TCM unit not allowing correct change times.

My Audi q7 keeps struggling to pick up power

When a problem like this arises the very 1st thing that must be done is to have the electronics scanned for fault codes, this is the how the diagnosis of the problem is started, otherwise you are just guessing.

Vsc light and traction control

When the VSC and trac light comes on, Your vehicle enter a fail safe function the ECU rejects any open request from the VSC system and your vehicle operate regardless of ABS,TRAC, and VSC. Having it cleared without corrections will allow the light to come on. If the VSC is seeing a large over steer the VSC and trac light comes on.(even if its under steer). If the ABS ,Trac is correct you will need to seek zero calibration. This is done through the DLC connection in the hood. The easy way to reinitial lize steering angle is done by keeping steering wheel in the straight ahead position (driver window down) disconnect the negative battery, and reconnect , turn key on . The other way is to go to the engine and find the DLC again driver window rolled down steering wheel in the straight ahead position. do not shake the vehicle you must be on a true level ground. No heavy load in the vehicle and no entering the vehicle untill this is complete Turn the key on at this point you will do everything through the window you cannot enter the vehicle.in the hood where the DLC is at you will short pin Ts and CG with a paper clip 4 times repeatedly within 8 seconds. There the VSC will go to zero point.Turn key off (again turn ignition off through the window) make sure you remove the shorting out of Ts and CG. Now your done. 10_13_2011_4_27_16_am.gifFor Rav4 use you DLC 3 its under the driver dash.As for the pin location its on the cover of the DLC 3

I have a 96 jetta gl and the check engine light just came on and i had it hooked up to a computer and gives the code p1582 can u tell me what this means? thank you

P1582 Idling Speed Regulation Adaptation Limit Reached

This fault can be caused by several factors, one being a dirty throttle body. Another could be a small vacuum leak. The last could be a loose timing belt. First I would check and make sure the timing belt is not too loose. Very common cause. Then if you are sure that you don't have any broken vacuum lines, and the PCV tube is not torn, then remove and clean the throttle body. Note that clearing the fault will not always keep it from coming back. You will need to disconnect both battery cables, and touch them together, this will cause the ECM to reboot and reset all learned values for idle adaptation. You can then clear the faults. If you fail to clear the learned values the fault will come right back as soon as you start the vehicle. Make sure you have the radio code as you will need to reset the anti theft code on the radio.

The air bag module monitors all of the electrical circuits of the air bag system. If it detects a fault in any of these circuits, it will cause the air bag light to come on. If it's flashing, count the number of flashes between pauses, this should be the diagnostic code the module is telling you what is wrong with the airbag system (or you can use a scan tool) The only way to keep the light off (besides removing it from dash) is to repair the fault, you can clear the code with the scantool, but it will come right back on if it still sees the fault.
