Check injection renault megane 1.5 dci

Hard starting in the morning takes about 10min to start after several attemps thick white smoke, and judders really bad it will run normal after half hour later until next cold start, ive had a diagnostic run and came up as injectors ive had them refurbd at a diesel specialist put the back in and same problem i had the light turnd of and started fine on a cold start and the 10 min later check injection came on again back to square 1 ive had new fuel filter injectors refurbd glow plugs egr valve and battery and no joy help..

sounds like the dreaded renault immobiliser ,in which case its dealer only as software encrypted.whats happening is the immobiliser is stopping it from starting when key is in start position cranking but it will go with a bump as starter motor key position not activated .try a wire from battery to small connector on starter motor .if it starts which i think it will then you know what to do ...old fashioned way with a push button.but are you getting prepared to lay the golden egg ???just in case

This being a diesel, lack of compression is your worst enemy. These symptoms sound like a blown head gasket. Check your coolant for signs of oil, and check your oil for signs of coolant. (oil will be milky looking) Also indicative of a head gasket problem is an oil or coolant leak from the engine as well. If you see no evidence of the above, have a compression test done, and it should show up.

The funny sound you mentioned must be identified, could it be the starter trying badly to turn. Here the fault of your battery drain is that the glow plugs take a lot of current and it must NOT come ON when the starter motor runs. Hence the fault could be your GLOW plug relay unit with the auto cut off timer that is faulty. If you keep draining the battery to a lower threshold level , there is every possiblity that the battery life will be lowered . I hope the present battery rating is the recommended Amp/hr rating to give the extra run for the morning start. Next area of suspicion is the starter motor itself , it could have a bad commutator or a bush. It will be good to have a clean up and service. Finally check for excessive drain on your battery with a current check in series for the drain current when the switch if off. If the current exceeds the limit disconnect each circuit to confirm. hope this advice helps. good day

it`s the oxygen sensor
thats why the car is mix fuel/air in wrong ratio generating unburned fuel in form of black smoke and check lights on

I fitted new injectors on np200 1.5 dci, now it has hard starting have to tow start or use quick start.then it produces a thick white smoke when it starts.


Thick white smoke often means something besides gas and air is getting into the cylinders. Possible blown head gasket, holed piston, etc.

Hi, what does it mean when huge amounts of white smoke comes out of the exhaust? otherwise drives ok? it is a renault megane 1.5 dci 2004. regards catherine


Symptom: White smoke or water vapor from the exhaust. You notice white smoke coming from the exhaust when you start your car. If it is cold out, this may be normal. If the smoke does not disappear after the car is warmed, you have a problem. Possible causes:
  1. Transmission fluid may be entering the intake manifold through vacuum modulator.
    The Fix: Replace vacuum modulator
  2. Cylinder head gasket(s) may be bad.
    The Fix: Replace cylinder head gasket(s).
  3. Cylinder head(s) may be warped or cracked.
    The Fix: Resurface or replace cylinder heads. (Resurfacing is not a DIY job)
  4. The engine block may be cracked.
    The Fix: Replace engine block.

if it black smokes and chugs then clears and goes its the egr valve its around £60 some pull it some dont u need the casing as well £100

i have a 1.5 dci 2005 renault megane and it will not start it was running fine then injection fault came up on dash bored ive changed the injectors and the fuel filter what,

Check your plugs again, make sure they aren't gunked up already or covered in oil or anything. Double check the spark gaps on them as well.
