SOURCE: vibration wobble through steering wheel when

Many ideas on this one, first the tires, check for uneven wear even if there seems to be lots of tread left. Next look for wear in the steering joints,.Then check the brake rotors, put your foot on the brake lightly see if it seems to be going up and down, if it is they are warped.

SOURCE: Car vibrates above 40 MPH

your wheels more than likely needs to be balanced one or more are out of round if you had the tires rotated before the alignment this would make the vibrating more noticible.but balancing should solve your problem.

Check for a worn universal joint on the drive shaft going to the rear wheels.

Check your transmission fluid level. (Low level can cause vibration on acceleration.)

Check to see if your transmission filter needs changing.

Does it only vibrate under heavy acceleration?

Do a test with tranny in drive instead of OD/over-drive, does the problem go away? If so I think it is an OD issue.
Check motor mounts and suspension. In the past, I've seen bad shocks cause a noticeable vibration at a certain speed. Below or above that certain speed, no vibration.

My automatic Subaru shudders when accelerating changing through the gears

The first thing to do is have the transmission fluid changed, the shudder is clutch plate shudder in the clutch apply pack. When the fluid gets worn from use the chemicals that prevent this wear out after 1000's of miles. The transmission should have a fluid and filter at least every 60,000 miles, more under severe use like extremely hot climates or heavy loading.

2006 Magum R/T vibration occurs at exactly 43mph and 54mph. Any change in speed over or under-stops. Purchased 2 sets of tires/balanced 6 times-same problem. Wheel bearing? Three shops checked it out...

is your vibration at 43 and 54mph coasting or under acceleration?
we had a car in the chry shop once with sort of the same problem,i brought another identical car in a different bay, removed all four wheels from our car to customers, road tested customers car afterwards, still had the vibration, brought it back in a took the time to swap cv shafts, road tested again, but still had the vibration.it ended up being the bushings in the transmission that keeps the CV shafts from wobbling.

I would be more inclined to look at the U-joints at either end of the drive line. Bent tubes usually cause vibration at speed. Jack up both rear wheels and put gearbox in neutral. Spin the wheels by hand and observe the drive line for being bent as it turns. A rare problem which allows the rear axle to twist under acceleration might be possible.

You may have worn out CV joints on the front wheel drive axles, they vibrate/shudder badly if they are really worn out.

Hey Pontiac,

There are two things, firstly get your front wheel rims put on a lathe machine to check for distortion, if not, then get the wheels balanced on a digital tyre balancer.

let me know if this works
