I would check ignition/ fuel delivery/ and fouled out spark plugs. Hope this helps. Also check you have a good battery in it.

Hi just because the lights work does not always mean the battery is ok. It takes a lot more power to crank the starter.
Generally that clicking will be either the battery or the starter motor. I would suggest if you can try jump leads and if it starts problem is battery, If not problem is most likely starter motor. For a possible third thing to check Make sure the battery leads are tight.
Cheers Mike;-)

It's cold outside and my 2013 Hyundai sonata won't start

Its most likely a worn down battery. They get even weaker when its very cold outside. I'd get a jump or connect a charger to it.

My 2000 reg ford transit wont start

That's your starter. It is taking the extra charge from the jump to crank enough because it's going out and the jump starts will stop working also. Swappin out starters or more likely in your case, if possible, just a starter selnoid. Either way most times a pretty straight forward job. good luck and I hope I could answer your question well enough.

When it reallly cold will not start

without a bit more info im gonna guess that the cold is affecting your batteries ability to start you car with all the Resistance of cold oil etc..its gonna struggle.try jump leads first cos if that works it wont cost a penny to try.

Hi there. when jump starting a car you are supposed to put the earth lead on a metal part (engine block or gearbox) so i dont think you have done any damage..
good quality jump leads are what is needed ( thick ones)

if you have a battery charger then that would be best depending on the ampage might need charging for 24hrs at least..

MY CAR WONT START AFTER A WHILE OF SITTING, I HAVE TO JUMP START IT WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM

Hi is this a diesel? if so then you may have trouble with your pump normally they are hard to start first thing in the morning but once going are fine all day until left for a few hours then they will not start for ages, because the fuel is having to be pulled from the tank all the way to the engine, the pump should do this but if it is failing then this wil take longer, nearly killing the battery.

Other possibility is a weak battery or poor earth lead connection ,check the battery leads, mainly the black one make sure it has a really good contact with the car body, ensure it has no corrosion around the connecting ends.

If still no joy let me know.

I was cleaning out my truck for about 1hr and my truck went dead...Will i have to jumpstart my truck or will the battery charge up enough to start back after so long?

hi, once the battery has gone flat your going to need to use jump leads and start the car that way, the battery wont pick up enough on its own to start the car so your going to need to get it jumped started.

hi b4 renewing starter ? try this connect a jump lead to the battery negative/earth connector then the other end of lead to a suitable earth point directon engine try starting now if it works ? then problem is the batteries earth connection lead to the engine and chassis/body ? is not good or corroded/loose but by using /bypass earth direct to engine will verify this if above works as you say jump/doner battery does not work ? also check the leads/wires connected to starters solenoid are clean/secure ? this is considering age of car ?

1998 ford contour start up, alternator? battery?

may i ask? when you jump start from doner car battery?? do you connect battery to battery with leads? reason for querie is the correct method is=connect leads to doner terminals on battery then on your car connect +LEAD TO YOUR BATTERY BUT THE NEGATIVE LEAD TO THE ENGINE ENSURE GOOD CONTACT ? if engine starts then ? you will have to check the earth lead from battery to engine connection it may be loose or deteriated ? doing the above test you are using doner battery power SO to check your cars battery ?and whether it is an earth connection fault? just connect 1xjump lead from your cars neg terminal on battery and the other end to the engine providing a good suplimentary earth to enable starter to function properly due to its high amps load needed if it works? check as explained above ? please update back on progress if any? good luck
