There is pressure...you have to remove the rear seat cushion, then remove the service cover and then detach the fuel pump harness connector.Start the car and allow it to run until the engine stalls.Turn the key to off position. Then disconnect the negative battery cable, attach the fuel pump connector, and install the access cover. Now place shop rags or towels around the fitting that is being disconnected. Loosen the filter feed pipe flare nut on the bottom of the filter.Seperate the flare nut from the filter. If equiped, remove and discard the gakets. remove the mounting bolts and remove the filter.if necessary remove the filter bracket. To install: install the filter to it's bracket only finger tight. Make sure the flow arrow is in the right direction. Make sure new O rings are installed prior to installation. Insert the filter feed pipe to the lower connection of the filter and manually screw in the main pipe's fare nut. While holding the fuel filter nut with a back-up wrench, tighten the banjo bolt to 22 ft pounds and tighten the flare nut to 25 with a back-up wrench on the nut. tighten the filter mounting bolts to 10 ft. pounds. Connect negative battery cable. turn key on to pressurize the fuel system and check for leaks. If repairs on the fuel system are needed remember to release the pressure before opening the fuel system. Hope this helps. Good luck!

By memory I think in 2000 models MMC has changed the engine from E-W direction. Concerning your reverse gear can you tell whenit stopped working? Is it only the lever that is not going to the far right. Is 5th gear getting in easily? How is the trvel of the gear lever in the neutral channel?
Cheers
