SOURCE: excessive fuel consumption

I could recommend a product I use on my own cars called SeaFoam. You can buy it at most autoparts stores like PepBoys and what it does is clean out alot of the carbon buildup, which improves gas milage and gets the engine running like new. Just follow the instructions on the back.

the black smoke indicates the engine is flooding first check your plugs and take note of the one or ones that are darker than the others ( a tannish brown color is good) if you find you need to change your plugs also change your distributor cap rotor button and plug wires. Keep in mind especially with the wires you get what you pay for. good luck

SOURCE: 02 nissan pathfinder excessive gas consumption i

Several things may cause this to happen:
first check your gas cap is securely tighten after refilling sounds silly but may work.
Can be a gas line broken that not necessarily should leak.
Also can be a gas pump malfunction, check for a loud humming coming under the back seat while engine running. If you confirm this loud humming noise try replacing the pump unit (not the whole harness wich is far more expensive).
Hope this will help

SOURCE: how do i tackle excess fuel consumption on my

Best think you can do to increase fuel economy is

(1) get all the excess stuff out of your car.
(2) drive like there is an egg between your foot and the gas petal.
(3) dont rush up to the stop light and stand on the brakes.
(4) keep the windows closed and limit the use of the AC

These items do not cost any money and take very little time to do.

IT is a wide open question as fuel economy depends on at least 20 variables all of which individually or combined can push that figure to past 12 or reduce it to 8-9

1994 1.6L Suzuki Sidekick has excessive fuel consumption. 24L/100km or 9.8 MPG. Catalytic converter has been removed by previous owner. Could this be the cause?

It could be if it is equipped with fuel injection. There would be oxygen sensors that are getting some strange readings that would effect fuel mixture. i`m not sure if a `94 would have them but would be easy to look and see.

1994 Nissan Sentra LEC problem

There is no carburetor on your car, it is fuel injected. Your coil is what fires the ignition. You can buy a Haynes manual, which has a troubleshooting section in it, but it sounds to me like you aren't really too sure around cars, so i'm going to suggest you find a reputable mechanic to take the car to. It may be a simple problem, but if you aren't comfortable working on cars, the mechanic is the best route. i'm sorry not to be of more help, but problems like this one can be caused by a variety of things only diagnosable while with the car to test as you go.

Uses excessive fuel

Brakes could be binding or hand bake cable holding on but you think youd smell burning brakes if that was the case! What condition is the oxy sensor in ,maybe carboned up and contaminated which can tell the engine management to supply more fuel than the air filter air box in good condition and air box lid securely fastened.Should be sealed from air box to throttle body If the air filter is clogged and dirty that can lead to excess fuel consumption.Have you installed any injector cleaner in the fuel tank.cleans up dirty injectors thst can cause excess fuel consumption.
