Jjj8000: Your car uses what is called a "Hot wire air mass sensor"
This cylindrical black plastic component which has screens at both ends and an electrical connector with roughly 6 pins, is not a serviceable component. It has a set of wires inside of it which after the engine is shut off, gets to a temp over 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit to burn off residue collected on it during the time air has been passing over it. If I could repair this type of component in my shop, I would stand to make a lot of money! Unfortunately, it takes specialized testing equipment for the remanufacturing process. Not to mention the replacement components to put in to replace the ones needed to rebuild the cores.
I wish I could give you a better answer, but it's the only one I know. However, prior to condemning the air flow meter, make sure you have made the proper diagnosis. FALSE AIR problems are often diagnosed as air flow meters. Check and make sure the boots (hoses) which the attach the the air flow meter and go to the throttle body, have no tears or leaks. Make sure you have no split vacuum lines or hoses. Remember, the ECM determines the injector pulse width by the amount of air metered through that component. If any un-metered air that passes after the air flow meter, will create a situation of hesitation and stumbling, lean conditions and more. DO YOU HOMEWORK!"
I'm the new guy on the block here at "Fixya" and need all the feedback possible to get better ratings. If I have helped you, please write in. Thanks......mybunkey

    Air flow meter sensor.

the air flow meter adjust the mixture ( fuel /Air) to the intake . as the engine RPM increase if there is a irregularity when the throtle is increased then yes that would solve the problem . make sure first there are no vacume leaks this will make the same effect.

depending on the style of sensor. Some can be taken off and cleaned a mass air flow cleaner which can be purchased at your local parts place. There is a small wire in the center thay collects dust particles which affects the readings to the computer.

You MUST have the air flow meter installed on your vehicle. The car will not run if you remove it. The Air Flow Meter measures the amount of air coming into the engine, and also the air temperature. This information is sent to the fuel injection computer, to determine the proper fuel to be injected. In reality, cars with "air-flow meters" do not really "benefit" from a cold air intake, due to the inherent restriction that the air flow meter causes, as it measures the air.
In short, I would not install the intake, you won't see much benefit. The graciousness of a FixYa rating for my assistance would be greatly appreciated..

Uneven acceleration just at the begining when starting forward.

If I am to understand correctly you are referring to the MAF, Mass Air Flow sensor. If so, it is a very simple job without the use of special tools. Disconnect wire connection from sensor. Remove air cleaner assembly From the air intake duct. Remove nut ( 10mm If i remember correctly) and lift from air cleaner. Then just reverse to reassemble. Hope this helps.
