Just give it a firmish pull upward, its held on with spring clips only. The air filters are either side under plastic covers. Youwill need a torxs screwdriver of the correct size

Turn signal switch is common issue, the plactic melts when the contacts overheat. look for discolored or malformed plastic, near wires and contacts.

Oh Boy...Unless you happen to have a heater hose up above thats dripping down onto the motor....you may have a freeze plug popped out. Some engines have freeze plugs at the back of the block...and yes...it would be between the engine and tranny. Check with your local Dealer service department or engine rebuilder to determine if your particular engine has freeze plugs in this location
