2002 ford ranger. some mornings when we get to a

I had the exact same problem with a chev where it would stall or almost stall at an intersection like it had a clutch, Mine seemed to only happen when it warmed up. It turned out to be the torque converter clutch (TCC) inside the tranny. Where my car was getting quite old I opted to just disconnect it, a local transmission shop confirmed it wouldn't cause any problems but I would loose gas milage on the highway. Where the 02 ranger is all electronic shifting you may want to check if disconecting would cause any problems.

2002 Ranger Edge 4X4 4.0 automatic. Sometimes the tranny slips between gears, and sometimes overdrive light flashes. light will reset when engine is turned off.

This is the most common problem you find with all the automobiles. This is because of the clutch. So you take to a mechanic and try to get it tuned, if totally warned out then replace the clutch plates. Usually every 50K Kms replacing the clutch plate is advisable.

My advice to take vehicle to the authorized service station to get it done.

2002 Ford Ranger Clutch Problems

It's not the clutch, it is the clutch slave cylinder. Check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder and you will see that it will be empty. The problem is the trans has to be removed to replace it.
