Question about 2006 Honda Accord
I bought my used 2006 Honda Accord 4 cyl, automatic 2 months ago.It has 40,500 miles on it and a new k & n air filter and oil and filter change. I pumped up the tires to 34 lbs all around.
The navigation screen shows my average mpg as 15. I only drive a couple days a week, not far enough for the engine to warm up completetly. Sometimes I drive on the interstate at 65 mph where the engine definately warms up. It is supposed to get 24 mpg city and 34 mpg hwy. Could there be a problem with the engine?
Doubtful. The K&N air filter is an aftermarket part which isn't compliant with standard factory parts against which those recommended MPG are tested.
The tyre pressure sounds too high for a car that size also, it would be worth enquiring with a main dealer what the reccomended pressure is.
Also your own driving ability comes into equasion too. Heavy/constant braking can affect it, having the air con witched on affects it etc etc.
All of the above combined would make a pretty big difference to your MPG.
