SOURCE: Unable to locate the position of the fuel filter

The fuel filter is inside the tank in a canister that holds the fuel pump. Contrary to popular belief the 2003 Kia Sorento has a fuel filter that you can get at your dealership. (I purchased one today at my dealer for appox $46 vs the $320 for the whole new pump). It was the only model year that had a replaceable filter.
To find the filter:
Open back passenger door and pull bottom of the seat forward. You will see a square metal plate that has a wiring harness attach. Use a Phillips screwdriver and remove the 4 screws. Unhook the gas lines, and 3 electrical plugins. Unscrew the 4 bolts holding the pump canister and slowly remove the canister from the tank pulling up. Inside this canister us the pump and the filter etc.
You will need to get a diagram from there to remove and replace unless mechanically inclined, although it is fairly simple to do.

SOURCE: diagnostic codes for 2003 kia sorento

I would suggest to change the cat convertor and move on.This will solve your problem and most likely check engine will go a way.Your code is P0431 is related to bad cat not sensor.Over time the cat will store too much carbons and will make it stop from firing up.Bank 1 cat is the driver side and bank 2 is th cat by the passenger side. You can get remanufacture cat at low price and around the $250 rather than by it from the dealer will cost you arm and leg around $800.I hope this will give anyone a good feedback.Mojeer

2003 kia sorento died. Codes are Po700,Po335, and Po727

be careful on this one. 700 means a transaxle, not sure if its stopped signal or something else. 335 is the crank sensor, i wonder if you have a timing belt that has come or or somethin like that. dont crank the engine until you can get someone to check some things.

How do you change battery cables in a 2005 kia sorento lx

If a car like yours dies while driving then I would suspect a fuel pump issue or a crank position sensor issue. Has your timing belt been replaced? that should be done at 100k miles. If the timing belt is coming apart it will throw pieces of itself onto the crank position sensor. Have someone check the fuel pressure and inspect the timing belt and crank sensor.

On a 05 kia sorento water in gas tank removed it and fuel pump got all water out poured 1and a half gallon of gas back in tank and the kia sorento still want crank what do i do next

when you say crank do you mean the starter won't turn the engine over-can you hear the fuel pump run when you turn the key on-you might want to dump a bottle of heat gas line antifreeze in to absorb any water left in fuel system-cheers Denny
