You can do an obd check by clicking ignition on/off 3 times,. leave it on ON,.(WITH OD LIGHT ON),.,..,,. watch the check engine light for blinks,.there is a pause btween blinks (i.e. blink pause blink, blink =12.....) then it will blink 5 times pause 5 times means its done checkin for a problem,..refer to chart you can find for 1995 jeep to diagnose whats the problem,.,.then bring beer and good attitude to a mechanic and hope he doesnt charge an arm and a leg

I have a 100k 96 grand am. I love her, but when I am trying to accelerate (I dont think the problem only comes up from stopped) I feel a lack of power. I can feel and see the enigine is revving high for a good 1-3 seconds before shifting. This problem shows up inconsistently. Thanks!

Check transmission fluid levels,,replace lost fluid as needed,,,if this does not work,,take the car to a mechanic,,,sorry to say,,this kind of problem almost alway's requires a transmission mechanic to repair.

Without getting into transmission diagnostics that would require special tools, you can check the transmission fluid level. You could also drain and replace the trans fluid to see if this solves the problem. Changing the fluid is considered regular maintence, and will not hurt a thing. The trans will benifit from fresh fluids in the long run also.

Thats it. another problem is you should feel a good positive shift, not just lazily shifting into gear. when driving on the road and the engine revs up but the car doesnt get any faster. The first thing to do is verify the trans fluid level.

If you have never had the trans serviced there could be gummy deposits causing a valve body malfunction. problem also can be related to a shift control problem that would need diagnosis by a trans shop with a ride along "flight recorder".

2002 jeep grand cherokee auto trasn is not changing gears

Personally, I'd drop the trans pan and give a look...but, best advice I can give you is to get to a REPUTABLE trans shop ASAP and not drive it unless its an emergency 'till then (more you drive, more damage you will do) The way a transmission is assembled, makes just about anything impossible without teardown.
And yes...only one filter in there.
