Security on eclipse 2000 gt

I towed the car without a key, and when i got it to a dealer to make me a new one, the entire dashboard was dead and the car can't start. the headlights are good, so the battery isn't dead. I brought the original key and i'm having same problem? any help? did towing do anything?

It sounds like a problem with your computer or injection system. the computer controls the amount of fuel put in the cylinders when you step on the gas. But it sounds like your truck's computer is having problems controlling this and when you accelerate hard or are towing and step on the gas, the computer just pumps diesel into the cylinders which causes the rough running(i assume misfiring and what not) and the loss of power. But when your not towing or accelerating hard, you are better controlling the amount of fuel going into the cylinders so there arent any problems. Go back to the dealer and tell them there is a problem with the injection system and it adds too much fuel when you try to get a lot of power out of it.

the dealer would probably have to do programming. may not use your part from advanced. i understand you have trusted a shop for diagnosis. sounds like theyre still unsure. computers are very durable and usually dont commit suicide. be sure they have checked timing belt for slippage or breakage. if the belt jumped a tooth or so, that could screw up cam and crank readings.

don't get the "Cardone ECC model 793013" . i just check it out and when you click on the " See all vehicles this product fits " link, it shows this:
5fcbf9f.jpg ------------------------------------------------------------------

the problem with it is that the '97 PCM will not work on a '98. the pinouts on them are slightly different. The only 2 years that are interchangable are the 98 and 99 year models.
The part number for the correct one is 5293190AC.

If you get a remanned PCM that needs progamming, anyone or any shop with the correct programming tool can do it.

1995~1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS & GS with 2.0L non-turbo engine (Chrysler 420A engine) ECUs have been equipped with reprogrammable processors since 1995.
To reprogram Mitsubishi vehicles, you must use one of two different reprogramming tools. For the 1995~1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS & GS (with Chrysler 420A engine), you must use a Chrysler Flash Reprogramming Unit, MIT992000-A . Click here to order one from SPX, or call them at 1-800-533-5338.

I would suggest just buying a used (98 or 99)PCM. Then all you have to do is unplug the old one, take out 3 bolts to remove the bracket/PCM, pull it out, 3more bolts to remove the ecu from the bracket and bolt the new one in place. Its about a 5 min. job.

SOURCE: Electrical problem

stop before you take it to your dealer sounds like a bad alternator not keeping battery up have your alternator tested for 13.25 volts it should be higher
( 15-16 ) but as long as you have 13.25 you have a good unit save those bucks we will call them " a stimulus package " !

How do I bypass the factory security system in a 1998 Mitsubishi eclipse without having the door key

When the anti theft system was created, the dealers forgot to tell the new car buyers about how much the fob matters to the vehicle, without it,owners are stuck, your anti theft device is activated, you need to lock and unlock your doors a couple times with the key fob,not the key,and then you need to put the key in the ignition and start it,if you dont have your key fob, call your car dealer to get a new one, they are programmed for each car only, you cannot bypass it.if you lost your fob or never had it,whatever, you need to have the exact fob that came with that car from the factory, the key and fob have a chip in them that only go to that certain car,if you do not have it,then you need to buy a new one from the dealer or ebay and then you need to contact your dealer about programming the fob to your car,you might not have to have it towed if they have the documents from the car,the only other way is to get a junk car, with the steering column, key, fob and all computer boxes and door locks and switch them,i just did that with a 98 dodge dakota, and it works.

Im trying to buy a 2000 Pontiac firebird and it doesn't have a key...I've been told I have to get one from GM and get it programed...I DONT want to buy it without starting it how can I hotwire the...

You'll have to have the current owner spend the bucks to get a key.
The car will need to be towed to a dealer or locksmith to get a key that matches the security code of the car as well as the lock.
If its a repo you will have to have it towed.

Security system on 2000 eclispe GT

Use the KEY (not the REMOTE) to UNlock the driver's door or the trunk. Then use the key to START the car, then shut it off. Finally, get out and LOCK the car using the mechanical KEY. That should clear the security system codes caused by disconnecting the battery!

2002 chrysler grand voyager i have a normal key not a programed key how do i start the car

The Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) is not going to let you run your engine without the proper key. The best thing to do is to take the entire vehicle (Tow it) to the dealer and have them program a new key for you. With a plain key, the engine will start and run for about 2 seconds then shut down. If this is repeated more than 6 times, the computer will have to be reset before even the correct key can be used. (More money)
