SOURCE: 1999 ford explorer will not shift into reverse?

this is always caused by a failed/worn out reverse clutch pack, you must remove the trans and have it overhauled to correct this failure.

SOURCE: 1999 ford explorer no reverse but have all foward

Unfortunately it sounds like you have some internal transmission damage. When reverse wont function in your vehicle, it is fairly common that the reverse clutch plate in the transmission ha sworn the teeth off the gear. Once you have the transmission fixed, make sure you come to a complete stop when backing up before going forward. That is usually the action that will cause the theeth to wear off the clutch plate

DIsconnext and reconnect the linkage at the transmission. You may want top replace the linkage cable all together. Make sure you set the parking break and block the tires

Everything works on my 99 ford explorer except reverse lights

If the bulbs are good then see if the switch has failed, it is 15 years old. The switch may be on the trans or on the column operated by the shift linkage. A manual or diagram would help locate it.

99 ford explorer Reverse light don't cut on

Unfortunately everything electrical seems to be connected on a Ford. Check all the fuses under the dash. Even the ones that seem to have nothing to do with the lights. That don't work. Check the bulb and then the socket for corrosion and burn marks. Ford lights tend to overheat and melt into the socket.

I have a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT and the brake lights and reverse lights don't work. I don't have a diagram of the fuse panel. We have checked everything else.

Have you checked under the hood in the engine compartment? I do believe there is a fuse box there with fuse for the brake/reverse.

1999 ford explorer no reverse tries to engage but kicks out

The first thing to go in a transmission is usually reverse. Find the cheapest place to have it rebuilt before the rest goes. Alternatly you can try to replace the transmission filter. Fords usually have a 12 bolt tranny pan and the kit comes with filter and new gasket. Also, u may lose a few quarts of fliud after you remove the pan.
