I have VW passat 1.8T 2000 model, the problem that I'm experiencing with this car is that sometimes the key turns to start position but it will remain silent and sometimes the key would not turn at all. There are two lights on the dash-the alternator light and EPS.
Well if your alternator light is on. seems like you need a new alternator. if it has crapped out it would be the reason why youre car doesnt start. its not a terribly hard fix. but i would say that is probably the reason why it wont start.

put the key in lock and unlock/hold key over.windows will go down, then lock/hold key over windows will go up/sunroof will close(if fitted),then press and hold unlock button on remote for 30 secs, you have just reset the immobiliser........
This is a mileage interval light that trips every 3,000 to 5,000 miles that indicates an oil change is necessary. You do not need a special tool to change your oil, nor do you need to bring the car in to the dealer. 1. Sit in the driver's seat of the Passat and close all the doors. 2. Position the trip/odometer button to display the odometer mileage reading, then hold it down with the forefinger on your left hand. 3. Turn the ignition key to the "key-on/engine-off" position to turn on all the power options for the Passat without actually starting the engine. At this point, a service indicator light will display (in the form of a wrench). 4. Press the minute adjustment button on the clock (or turn the knob clockwise on European manufactured Passats) and release the trip/odometer button. Good luck and thank you using Fixya
try to hold your driver door key in the unlock position for 3 seconds, all the window should open at the same time.if one off them is not opening than you have a problem with the motor hold the key for 3 second in the lock position to close them
