SOURCE: Car is missing and cutting out. Also It has no power.

In 87' they didn't have distributors. They had coil packs.
Its all controlled by the computer.

a few things that could be happening here... When you run a tank dry, it often pulls the sediment from the bottom of the tank... this is very bad for fuel injection systems. Having it run "dry" like this could have damaged your injectors. I doubt the flooding of the engine with gas could have caused any damage that would result in misfiring. I would suggest starting with the cheapest solution first, which is Oil detergent. I prefer CD2 oil detergent. It is primarily used for sticky lifters, but can help with many simple motor issues. It costs a massive 5-8 dollars at any auto parts store or that "W-mart" store.

Make sure your oil levels are where they should be, and pour this product in the oil receptacle. Run the car for about 200-500 miles ( doesnt have to be in one trip hehe). After about 200-500 miles, perform an oil change (including filter). If this clears your issue up, great! it only cost you 30 bucks total.

If not...

Misfire is caused by 3 things and 3 things only. Fuel, Spark, AIr. These are what makes a motor fire. The second cheapest solution is timing adjustment. Any service shop like Muffler M. or Belle Tire, etc, should be able to perform this for 25-40 dollars. It is very possible during your spark plug / wire change, the distributor cap got turned out of alignment with where it should be.

While you have it at the shop, you should ask them to inspect the plugs and wires since thier hands are already on the device they are all connected to. This will remove or confirm one more possible issue.

The next step would be checking AIR. Airflow can be restricted by something as cheap as a cruddy filter, but rarely does this result in a misfire, so, even though its possible, im taking this off the table, Again, during the timing inspection, feel free to ask them to check it.

Another part of AIR is your EGR valve. This is a device that, put simply, recycles your exhaust. If your motor is dependant on this device, and it's cruddy, gummed up, or plain no good, it could be robbed of essential air and fuel. This can usually be checked with a "Code Check" at any service shop for free.

The final part is FUEL. Always the last place you wanna look, because it's the most expensive. This could range anywhere from Fuel Pressure, dirty fuel injectors, or a damaged fuel pump. Again, when you ran that tank dry, there is a possibility you pulled sediment thru one of these devices, or clogged your fuel filter. I hope, and you hope, if it is a fuel issue, it's just a dirty filter. I hope this helped.

Make sure your battery is charged, and try cranking with foot on pedal all the way to floor. This will open your butterfly on the the throttle body to let more air in on the intake. Don't pump it, just hold it down.

Check coolant temp sensor. If bad, it will make computer think the engine is still cold, causing excessive fuel delivery and flooding. These sensors can be removed and tested (see instructions in shop manual)

I have a 2000 suzuki Vitara I can drive a long distance but when I stop it wont start up like it out of gas, and one day I drove to get gas i fill up and started to take off and it stop like I ran out of...

(if engine is good, not overheated )
its only 1 of 2 things.
lost spark (do a spark test using , yes, a test good spark plug)
if spark is good on all cyl
then check fueling, if spark plugs not soaked in fuel (tips)
then try test fuel.
if soaked, the op guide says, hold throttle fully open (depressed 100%) this cuts INJECTIONS 100% and you start a flooding motor)

2004 susuki forenza won't start after i put new head and put in time ,ran good for thirty minutes

Old post but , this answer covers all , of this type symptoms.
new head,
ran for 30 minutes
so does it crank ? ok? if not dont crank, it can start.
so crank is next. (first)
backfiring (true to the air cleaner) usually means TIMING IS way off and sure engines can start with timing way off and then stall and flood out.
nothing new there.
you did not time the engine correctly.

get the FSM on engine. read the pages.
or go to and read that.

It's flooded like you say.
If it's really flooded, you'll have to remove plugs and dry them off.
Install them.
Now when you crank engine, hold gas pedal to floor.
That will stop gas from spraying into engine.
You need to get the gas out of the engine for it to start.
Crank for 20-30 seconds with pedal to floor. Do this 3 times waiting 2-3 minutes inbetween cranks.
The starter needs to cool down.
Then after that start normally and see if it will start.
Remember if it will not start after 2 attempts, then the possiblity of it flooding is there and you'll have to clear out the gas by holding the pedal to the floor again.

Well first you will want to get the right size spark plug socket , the rigt sized one for your envoy and then next you will want to remove one spark plug wire at a time so you do not cross any of the wires or if you do you will mess up the timing for the envoy now how to remove a spark plug wire, look first at the plug wire and then gentky twist the wire on the end that goes over the spark plug and carefuly pull back but do not break the wire, next with an extention and the socket put the socket over the spark plug and turn the plug counter clock wise until you have removed the plug and then put the new spark plug in and place the spark plug wire back on the spark plug and just repeat the prosses on the rest,agin do them one at a time that is how I change spark plugs and wires and i have been doing it for years.

You have to find out if it has fuel and spark . One or the other is missing at the demise of the engine.
