While you were at the parts store did they perform an alternator output test. If not then the alternator is suspect. A winding could've failed, rectifier bridge(diodes), or the internal voltage regulator(if not in the ECU). Get it tested. that may be your problem Greg. Hope this helps

The warning light is for the alternator or something in the wiring between the alternator and the battery.
It means the alternator is not charging the battery.

SOURCE: nissan xterra knock sensor

It's the valley of the engine underneath the intake manifold. It's about an $800 job because the top of the engine has to come off. However, unless you have a supercharged xterra it shouldn't effect performance. Also, the knock sensor will not trip the check engine light, as it does not indicate a primary problem, so if your light is on you should have another code that should be fixed first.

SOURCE: Check engine light/vacuum leak

First thing to remember autozone people ar not experts in the automative diagnostic world, if they were they would be earning 50 - 75,ooo per year as a technician, not 25,000 as a desk jockey. You need to go to a mechanic that has a computer to hookup to your car and tell you what the check engine light is on for. then you can fix the exact problem instead of poking around in the dark at the problem until you get lucky and have it fixed for a week or two,

Reduced engine light, replaced throttle position sensor, no stalling

Did you have the battery disconnected when you changed the sensor? You may have shorted the new sensor out if you didn't. Anytime you change any sensor, disconnect battery. Dis you adjust the sensor with the battery disconnected. This has to be done also.

I have problem with my 2004 toyota sequoia,Truck runnig so far no problem, but VSC TRAC, VSC OFF & Engine Check lights are ON Can you identify the problem...? Thanks

I just encountered the same problem 2 days ago. I read a blog that said to check the gas cap to make sure it was fully tightened. (I know, seems weird that would be associated to traction and stability control sensors) So I removed, then re-tightened the gas cap, unhooked the battery for 10min and no more check engine/vsc/trac light. 2 days later, they reappear. I took it to Autozone where they will do a free code scanner of your vehicle's computer and these are the potential problems that it detected:

open or short circuit condition
poor electrical connection
failed oxygen sensor
EFI relay fault

Will probably have to take it in somewhere because there are 4 O2 sensors and I am not quite sure on what to do with the rest of the list.

1991 honda accord will not charge alternator test good

1st check and make sure you have a good ground on the battery. Check the battery. Make sure it passes a load test. It is possible that the battery is not holding a charge. Make sure all alternator connections are connected.
