There is a complete series of instructions in the 2002 owner's manual about how to reprogram the "glass drop". I don't have the manual available at the moment, but I did mine and it was easy. You raise the glass and HOLD the button for 2 - 3 seconds and then drop the glass and do the same routine on the close... or something like that. It';s all there in the manual on the section about the side glass.

More that likely, the plastic guides that run up and down the "window regulator" are broken. If you take off the door panel, check for broken plastic pieces in the inside of the door shell. It is a common problem. However, the fix is not that easy - or cheap. It requires replacing the entire "regulator" with a new one. The repair requires removing the door panel, taking off the screws that hold the dual rail regulator and cables and unplugging the motor. The new regulator is about $70 from RockAuto.com or you can order from Autozone for around $105-115. I can't find anyone who sells it without the motor which is probably not bad. However, replacing the whole thing is much easier anyway. I'd suggest that you get the new one before you remove the old one. It is a lot easier to see how to take it out if you know what it looks like.

SOURCE: power windows are failing
Fords are known to have faulty window switches. However, I've replaced alot of motors and regulators, too. Lubing the regulators, or tracks, is a good start. Find something called mini-vent lube and get that into the window runs. To remove the trim, well ford does that many ways, so without doing it myself, I can just tell you find all the screws and bolts all around the trim, bottom and sides. look in the armrest and see if there is a cover, there may be a couple fasteners in there. look behind the pull handle. the trim behind the pull handle(the thing that opens the door) may have to be removed to access another bolt. finally, ford does the final removal 2 different ways. first try to lift the trim straight upwards, if there is a corner piece that covers the mirror bolts in the way, remove that. if it does not lift upwards, then do your best to get your fingers bt the trim and door and **** it outwards.

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door
