When you turn the key on, you should get power to the pump for 3 seconds from the pump relay. If not, check the power from the relay back to the key switch. No power to the starter could be the neutral safety switch or again the key switch.

2002 Mitsubishi Montero won't start. Replaced the starter and fuel pump and filter.

Does vehicle engine turn over. If yes, then pay attention to fuel system. Check for good power and ground at fuel pump connector. If no power check fuel pump fuse, relay and for open wires (power, ground) to fuel pump.

How does car alarm disabble start condition when activated?

When you turn the key to the run position the pump only cycles for about 2 seconds so put a multi meter to the pump wires & have someone turn the key do not use the car as a ground in case the ground is bad if still no power check at the computer.

Fuel pump, lights, everthing stopped working but battery and starter works

Look for a broken fusible link at the starter power power terminal. Not easy to get to sometimes. May be able to apply power to a power link on the firewall. Look for the thick red wires.

Honda 2004 civic turns over but wont start. starter fluid gets it going but doesnt stay cranked.. help

Hi Tara,
I would crack the fuel line at the fuel rail and crank the engine, if you have fuel, you know the pump is working. If you have no fuel, check for power at the fuel pump. If there is power at the pump, you will probably need a fuel pump. Let me know if that helps, thanks.

1998 ford taurus will not start without using starter fluid

I would check fuel pressure before and after you crank the engine.
The pump gets power for 3 seconds during startup - if the fuel pressure has leaked down you would have to crank the engine until the oil pressure came up to get the pump to power up again.

Cant find the fuse for the fuel pump

The fuel pump does not have its own fuse. The fuel pump circuit is protected by fuse # 8 (20 Amp) in the Power Distribution Center in the engine compartment. This fuse also supplies power to the Ignition Switch and the Starter Relay.

HINT: If the starter cranks the engine, this fuse is OK.

I tried to feed power to my 2001 sable fuel pump to see if it was bad. By probing wire with a hot lead. Both fans on the motor came and now the starter will not engage. I've put a new fuel pump in...

check to see if you damaged the fuel pump relay or starter relay. I still suspect that a fuse is blown os fuselink on the left inner fender.
