SOURCE: I have had my 04 Kia Sorento for 5 days & the sunroof is nuts!!!

According to the 2003 owner's manual (2004 should be similar) there is a specific procedure for calibrating the moon-roof's controller. The electronic controller may have lost its calibration settings due to an electrical glitch or disconnected battery.

Look up he exact procedure in your owner's manual as it may vary between different mdel years or OEM moon-roof suppliers.

SOURCE: my sunroof will not close. I can hear the noise

It sounds like the switch has gone bad or that there is something wrong with the track. If you look on the inside of the sun roof you should be able to see four screws. These screws hold the sunroof in place and to the track. Take those screws out and then the glass. If you look down where the track is when the glass is out and push the button to open and close you should be able to see the track move. If you cant see it move when it is supposed to open pull the switch and see if you are getting power to the open and close side of the switch.

SOURCE: I have a 2004 Kia

This problem relates to problem with ignition switch. The ignition switch not letting the car to turn off.But also it can be key lock cylinder. The metal part where you insert the key.------------- Your ignition rods in the steering column are worn out, when you turn the key the tumbler has a rod that pushes on a swith that turns the starter in all the way forward, 1 click back and power is on, one click back from that is off and 1 more click back is accessory's. the rod is either stuck or the switch could be bad or the tumbler isnt pulling the rod up far enough.---------- ----------- But most probably in your case problem is ignition switch. You'll need a new ignition switch and they'll customize it to use your original key. ----------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Mazda Tribute won't start and has no electricity

This is a common problem with Mazda tribute and Ford escape. Replace the ignition switch. Actually, if you close the doors and turn everything off. Insert key and turn to on position, do not start, verify all dashboard lights come on. If they are, just press key in and jiggle around a bit, then try starting, u may have to do it a couple of times to start it. But, change the switch and possibly the key tumbler..do switch first and test. .then key tumbler if not successful. Both parts should cost less than $80..good luck.

P.S. you can replace the switch yourself, remove steering column 4 screws, switch has a yellow or white markings and is on the left of the column opposite the key side.

2006 Cobalt LS Coupe Intermittent Starting Problem

sounds about right, probably is ignition switch, reason you don't get codes is because if power is'nt connecting to engine while problems occurs then ecm won't pick it up. you should have 2 ignition switches, (the lock cylinder and key switch, the other is the electrical, usually located under the dash, and commonly atttatched to the column close to the firewall, check connections first, it may just be a loose plug in connection

When I unlock my 2002 vw golf all the electric windows open together ?

.Just to be sure, do you know that when you insert your key into either the driver or passenger (front) doors, and turn the key over to the far LEFT (in the process of unlocking the door), and hold the key in that position for more than a second or so, your windows will all roll down?? This is supposed to happen - it is a benefit of owning a VW! It is all described in the owner's manual.

Now the other side of this function, is that if when you get out of the car, and any of the windows are left open (including the sunroof if you have one), inserting your key and turning it over to the far RIGHT (in the process of locking the car), and once holding it there for more for a second or so, will then close all the windows for you. This opening and closing process will only continue for as long you hold the key turned over in the extreme position in either direction. Once you return the key to the center position, the opening and closing will stop. So you just hold it there until the windows are all closed. This option is not available via your keyless remote though - only via the key in the door locks.

It's something I love about the VW design - you can choose to let fresh air into the car before getting in without having to insert your key into the ignition and on the other side, if a window (or the sunroof) is accidentally left open when you've exited the car, you now have the option to close them all without once again inserting your key into ignition and turning it over.

My battery is draining due to an electrical issue. not sure if its a fuse that needs replacing or a wire

It's neither. A battery drain or draw is caused by a device that is on that should not be on. Some common things that I have ran into in the past is the battery itself has an internal draw, glove box lights, vanity mirror lights, power mirror motors, trunk lights, power seat switches, and after market radios. You can visually check these to see if there on or off. Otherwise you'll need a higher eng volt meter cab able of reading amperage or a clamp style low amperage probe. You will remove the positive cable from the battery, set your volt meter to the 10amp scale, place the leads in the correct positions on the meter then place one lead on the positive battery terminal and one lead on the posits battery cable end. You should see less than .050 amps.if you see more than you have a draw. The fuses can be removed one at a time. Eventually you will see the draw go away. Focus on that circuit and you will find the problem in no time. It is important that everything in the car is shut off, key out of the ignition, doors closed, and any accessories plugged into the power outlets removed before hooking up the amp meter.

Remote start function on remote doesn't work for a 2005 Pontiac G6.

Replace battery first and see if that help, if not then follow steps below, if you cant figure it out or it still doesn't work, or take it to the dealer, it could be remote module is faulty. Keep the windows open as a safety measure, then,

Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.

Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse from the fuse panel. Refer to Fuse Block in Wiring Systems.

Close all of the doors.

Close the liftgate.

Turn the ignition lock cylinder to ACC.

Turn the ignition lock cylinder to OFF, & then back to ACC within 1 second.

Open & close any vehicle door. A chime will be heard when the system enters the BCM programming/diagnostic mode.

Important
After 7 seconds, a chime may be heard confirming successful synchronization. It is necessary to wait approximately 14 seconds for a second chime that will confirm successful programming.

Press & hold the transmitter LOCK & UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 14 seconds.

Repeat the previous step on each additional transmitter to be programmed.

Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.

Install the BCM PRGRM fuse back into the fuse panel. Refer to Fuse Block in Wiring Systems.
