Eh , Automatic transaxel Range (TR) switch , can also be referred to as the Inhibitor Switch , personally i would call it the neutral safety switch , anyway you can find the "inhibitor" switch on top left side of transaxel , it goes over the shifter shaft coming out of the trans where the shifter cable bolts onto . Looks like a 1/4 of a circle . cheers mate

It is secured by two bolts with 10 mm hex heads. Be careful when replacing these bolts that they are not feeding in at an angle...they can be twisted off by cross threading into the aluminum transmission body.

Where is the neutral safety switch located on a manual transmission for a 2003 KIA Spectra

I am by no means an expert on Kias. That being said, i would think there wouldn't be a NEUTRAL safety switch on a manual transmission.

There should however be a CLUTCH pedal safety switch that will keep the starter from engaging unless the clutch pedal is depressed.

That switch should be located under the dashboard attached to a bracket near the top of the clutch pedal swing arm.

Hope this helps.

What affect would a high resistance in the inhibitor switch on an automatic transmission have on starting performance

It wouldn't allow you to start the car. It would effectively act like an open circuit and wouldn't allow the starter to operate. If this is an automatic, try starting it in neutral as it has a separate circuit for starter interuppt inside the switch.

I need to change my VSS on my 2003 Kia Spectra. I need to know where it is located. And the best way to replace it.

Its Located on the top of the transaxle. To get to it you may have to remove the air filter housing once youve done that you should have easy access to it. Just disconnect the wire to it and unscrew the one bolt holding it in place and pull it out.
