Question about Cars & Trucks
I just leased a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek & had the remote starter installed by the dealer. It has the open door/shut off safety feature. Is there a way to disable it without voiding my warranty. I guess this is some sort of theft safety feature but the car can't go without the key in the ignition turned to on, if the brake is pressed it shuts off & it can't go into gear, so where's the threat of theft???? I think this is a very poor feature that a lot of manufacturers are now adding.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

With the doors shut, insert the key into the drivers door lock. Lock and unlock the door 5 times. This should reset the system. If that doesn't work you should contact a qualified repair shop.

try unplugging the car alarm and see what happens. its behind the glove box. these cars work without the alarm. the alarm box sometimes has dry joints in them.

Tell your husband to call the Toyota dealership back, and ask them if you vehicle is involved in a "Special Policy Campaign". Toyota IS replacing the doors for FREE with the issue you speak of, We have replaced 15 or 20 so far here, at no cost to the owners. If the dealer gives you the run-around, call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331 and explain your situation. The CEC will guide you the rest of the way to get your car fixed.

Should not have happened,
For the Factory RKE ( Remote Keyless Entry ) have you tried reprogramming the key fobs to your truck. The procedure is in the owners manual ( need all of them at programming time ).
This is stored in NVR, and should not need to be done, but worth a try.
If this is an aftermarket Remote start / alarm, check the owners manual for t on battery replacement. Have seen some off brand with strange battery ( truck's battery that is ) replacement steps.

Try re-setting the computer...Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and leave off for 5-10 minutes. This will allow the computer to reset. The charger may have interupted the signal or something.
