SOURCE: 1996 dodge avenger when cold, the transmission go in limp mode

Is the vehicle's Check Engine Light on? It should briefly light up when you turn the key on (before you start the engine) to show that the light is working correctly. Based on what I've read I believe you should have one or more trouble codes. A place like AutoZone will read the trouble codes for you for free, and you can look them up here - http://www.engine-light-help.com/generic-check-engine-light-codes.html

SOURCE: 04 Jag xj8 set brake code is on---limped home

When this happens, usually you have to replace the Computer. There is a chance you just didn't reset it when you took to cables off. Remove them and tape or hold them together for 5minutes or longer. If it still does it, I would get a book and find out where the code is to lead you. With the obd it only gives you a starting point in the diagnosics. You may have air in your lines that need bled, a sensor out, or just plain adjustment of the cables. But it shouldn't go into limp home mode unless you lost your Engine Control Monitor. Oh, I didn't click the read more button. Check the E-brake cables. You may have run over something that hooked it and ripped it loose. The Jags can tell if the cable is too far out of adjustment. It's under the car, cable should go through the floor and run to the rear of the car and Y out to the rear wheels. Good luck.

Signum 56plate 1.9tdci.it goes on limp.mode either after ticking over for 2 mins or just in the midle of driving..then i just need to flip the switch off..on. and its back running sweet for a few min

Because you mentioned tick over I am assuming this tends to happen as you change the position of the throttle which if electronic is a common cause of engine management light and limp mode.if you keep the throttle still whilst driving for any length of time ...you may again experience limp mode the minute you either slow or accelerate as the contacts in an electronic unit are intermittent.my cure is to switch off the engine and pump the throttle pedal hard all the way to the floor and releases several times .this seems to make the contacts connect more efficiently.if this is the culprit it may be worth replacing the throttle module.lastly any limp mode is always recorded on the ecu as an error code.if you want to get answers fast take it to a garage and have them OBD the car to confirm what's really going on.

Glow plug light flashing

did you use the interface to cancel limp mode
you know its in limp mode

what was the printout of the diag

its aok to post i have a problem and this is the issues
but in limp mode you have no choice but too use software too fix the ecu etc to reset the mode fault etc

i think its the cold start system with air has an issue

if the glow plug light is flashing and the glow plugs are ok then its a sensor problem and a needed reset of the mcu to clear the error and retest...

from cold...!!

warm engine is prob aok
something air related

You may need to change your thermostat or coolant temp sensor, If the sensor does not detect proper temp than this could cause ur problem.. A scan tool could help give u the readings.

1990 chrysler lebaron goes into limp mode have to stop car restart and problems stop temporarily

The symptoms you describe, "limp mode", no check engine light, after a restart you get a temporary cure, and the year of your vehicle, tell me your catalytic converter is becoming clogged.

As your vehicle warms, the exhaust pressure builds and can't properly escape through the catalytic converter. When you turn the vehicle off, the pressure slowly releases, and when restarted it will run ok again until the pressure builds.

I would replace the catalytic converter, and that should resolve your issue.

I hope this information helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.
