My 2002 Acura 3.2TL engine revs up & down when it is in park sometimes

My 97 Buick lesabre just started to rev up on its own when in park or neutral on its own. It is fine when it is drive or reverse. The check engine light came on. It doesnt do it all the time, it seems like it does it when it hasnt been on for a couple of hours.

You need a new iac valve (idle air control valve) its on/near the throttle body

disconnected the HID ignighter. used a T20 to remove bulb cover. pulled out bulb and installed new bulb. DO NOT TOUCH THE BULB WITH BARE HANDS!!!

Sounds like a bad IAC motor, or a vaccuum leak, or low coolant... I would definately start with checking these things first

your car could still be under warranty depending on the miles the car have call your Acura dealer for info. I had my transmission replaced in Feb 09 and it was done for FREE!!

My 2002 Acura tl revs while in park and in drive, check engine light just turned on as well.

The throttle body and idle air control motor needs a good cleaning. Use brake clean and a toothbrush and clean inside the throttle as best you can. especially the back of the throttle plate and where it sits against the throttle body. Start the car, it will take a second or so. Then rev it up and spray some cleaner in the throttle keeping it running. This usually takes care of the up and down RPM's. Have the codes checked to see what is going on. It could be the idle air control motor. Let me know.

Check the wiring. to Coil, plugs, Crank Positioning Sensor. check to see if the wire is in good condition sometimes if wire is checked, in poor condition it will allow bleed through especially when the wires get hot. This is why it will often start when engine cools down and why it shuts off when your sitting cause it heats the wires up there is not the cool air running accross the wires when sitting.
