Question about 1991 Ford Explorer

SPUTTER SPUTTER EXPLORER

I have a spiting and spudering problem when driving, seems to go away when I hold to accelerator to the floor but is worse at mid throttle, just repaced spark plugs and wires, fuel filter, pcv valve and coil.

First check the fuel pump relay under the hood on the drivers side and if it is good it could very possible be the fuel pump

Sounds to me that you have an issue with the vacuum. you need to check all lines, make sure none of them are cracked. sensors in the coolant system can get 'gummy', when this occurs the computer will think it is either running colder or hotter than it really is, so maybe have the system flushed. a good way to tell it is a vacuum leak is if when you are cold idle and it is very fast,

Rough idle, sputtering like its outta gas but it aint.


Could be a vacuum leak as it falls off under acceleration and does not play a part then. Check for broken or cracked hoses.....

I had this same problem, it turned out that one of the coils was bad. take to a local autoparts store and ask them to put on a hand held computer.
