This may be true normal replacement of timing belt is usually around 60,000 miles for most vehicles. However that price seems kind of steep, the timing belt is usually replace with the water pump at the same time plus internal seals in timing cover but parts and labor for this total job should be alot less. Get second estimate on this job and contact if you need more help. Thanks for using fix ya

I have a 2005 Audi A6 with @ 100,000 miles on it. My dealer is recommending that I replace the timimg belt and the quote for the job is $1500 to $2000 which will include a new water pump. There is...

On these vehicles, the timing belt is recommended at 90K!! I recommend replacing the T-belt and water pump at the same time. The water pump is timing belt driven, and if it fails, you would be paying for another Timing belt service!! YOU WILL NOT experience drive-ability issues because the belt is aged or has not been serviced at its recommended intervals. Instead, if the belt fails, your engine will fail, and will require replacement or rebuilt ($3500+ job). Find a less expensive reliable shop thats experienced in EURO vehicles, and stay away from the dealer!!

My car has a leaky water pump and the mechanic said they have to replace the timimg belt as well i have a 1995 honda accord v6 engine with over 200 and something miles

yes, you should have the timing belt changed every 80,000 mi. on a Honda. You got your use out the one from the factory, if that's how long you've owned your car.

A leaky water pump is common on Hondas with that much mileage.

When it rains it pours.

Don't worry, timing belts don't cost that much to replace. really they don't.

Is it normal to have to replace pulley, timing belt and fan belt in renault megane cabriolet after 5 years. How much do these spare parts cost? Have been quoted £750 parts and 6 hour labour costs.

Timing belt on 4 cylinder Renaults should be changed every 50-60000 Km. Consequence of not doing so is having the belt break, and damaging valves and valve lifters (extremely costly) . Replacing the belt is time consuming, and labor intensive. So while the belt is out, its is a good investment to replace pulley, belt tensioner/ roller bearing and water pump belt, which is nearby and has to be taken out anyway, for timing belt replacement. Meganes dont have fan belts, they use electric motors for this duty.

2003 Tiburon Timing Belt Replacement

the timing belt is not due to be changed until 120,000 miles i cant promise but you could make it to 150,000 but i wouldnt go much farther then that unless it wasnt changed at 60,000 if that is the case you are on barrowed time you need the belt changed as soon as possible.

Does the Corolla 2003 model have a timming belt or chain?Does the water pump has to be changed at 70K miles? Thanks. Adrian

Adrian,

Until 2002 Toyota's had a timing belt. After 2002, Toyota's have a timing chain. Manufacturer/dealers recommend replacement of the timing chain at about 90,000 miles. I've talked to several mechanics - including the dealer - about the cost of changing out the chain. The lowest price I found from a very reputable mechanic is $260-270. He told me that if I brought in the part, he'd reduce the cost. The dealership was almost double!

Re: water pump: I haven't found anything that stated it must be changed at 70K miles. Hope this was helpful.
