Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
About a week ago , I noticed some missing or sluggish moments while driving , It will not start today, Added some fuel additive for removing any water that might be in the fuel tank, and injector cleaner, I have replaced the spark plugs and am getting fire to the plugs, I have disconnect the battery to allow the computer to reset. The engine amber light stays lit. The fuel pump, appear to be pumping as I can hear it when i turn on the key... The engine trys to start but blows a white cloud out the carberator, and there is an blackish oily substance around the opening of the carberator, Please someone with an Above average IQ , provide me with some possibilities as to what might be wrong....Also I replaced the fuel filter... Thank you , Dave in Kentucky.
Advance Auto Parts and Auto Zone will, free of charge, let you use an OBDII Code scanner to see what the engine code you are getting. Once you get the code they may tell you what's up. If not, Google it and you will get all the info you need. Could be dirty injectors but without knowing the code it's a shot in the dark. Have you changed the air filter recently? Try starting the truck with the air filter removed.
