Re: Check Engine Light
Your guess would be as good as mine, DON'T GUESS with these newer fully computerized vehicles. However common reasons for this light to come on can vary, like depending on mileage may be a bad (02) Oxygen sensors etc. Here is my recommendation take this vehicle to an AUTO-ZONE in your neighborhood and have them put it on a code scanner to see why light is ON. ITS FREE, then I would be more than glad to provide any other needed assistance. Good Luck and thanks for using FIX

THIS IS HOW YOU RESET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THE 99 HONDA ACCORD. 1. With the Car Off, Press and hold down the Odometer Trip Reset Button. 2. While still pressing the Trip Reset Button, Turn the Ignition Key half way on where all your oil, check engine lights etc.. turn on. Don't turn it as far as you would to normally start the car. Wait a few seconds and the Check engine light will turn off. 3. Turn the key back to the Off position and you're done. What a scam Honda has with the BS Check Engine Light.
Head to your local Autosave auto parts store or Orielly's and have them do a free check engine light diagnoses. This is a free service by many local auto parts stores and the computer will give you the answer to your check engine light issue
First you must diagnose and repair the fault that caused the check engine light to come on, otherwise, resetting the computer will only result in the light coming back on. Then a scanner must be used to reset the computer memory so that the fault codes are erased.
This happens because the oil filter needs to be free of air. When the oil pressure sensor drops below a certain value it shuts off the injectors because the PCM. This is a good feature because if you run out of oil for any reason it should stop the engine before damage occurs.
1-Push maintence reminder button in and hold it in. (thats the button near the speedo on the insturment cluster) 2-Turn the ignition to the on position while holding button in. 3-Wait several seconds until the light goes out, then let go of the button. It is now reset
Now this is the maintaince light and not the check engine light correct? If then just follow above and do that.
Also if you don't use Fram oil filters you can go 5000miles on your oil and be safe. Even honda says you can do 7000miles but 5000 gives you a buffer if you need to go over.
