You need to replace the cooling fan because the resistor is in the cooling fan and it is best to go to a salvage yard and have them look it up on a computer and it will tell what fan will work on your car

Where is the cooling fan thermostat on a 99 ford contour

The cooling fan is controlled by the coolant temperature sensor near the thermostat, and when it senses too high temperature of the coolant, it operates the fan relay.
Check the fuse for the cooling fan, the cooling fan relay, and the fan itself for proper operation. You can use a multimeter to see if power is getting to the sensor. If not, and you find the fuse is good, then you'll have to find the break in the wire.

I'm running my ford Contour 2000 and the a/c cools very good but sudently stop cooling when I run more than 60 MPH (some times more, some times less); but when I slow down like 30 or 35 it cools again. the...

Your high side pressure is to high. The refrigerant needs to be operating at the right pressures in order for the air-con to function properly:

If the pressure is too low, there is risk of compressor damage in addition to lack of cooling
If the pressure is too high, the effectiveness of cooling diminishes at the very least
To avoid hitting issues related to this, modern air-conditioning circuits are equipped with a pressure switch/sensor. Its job is to protect the system from self-destruction by preventing the AC from running under the wrong conditions.

I have a 1995 Ford Contour SE, 2.5L. I have two questions - 1. The cooling fans are not currently working and 2. The in dash temperature gauge is at max temp, even when the engine is cold. Is there an...

Answer to second question: It appears that that the wire to the coolant Temp Sensor has developed e short to the chassis somewhere which is giving the Max reading on the guage. Check the wiring in the engine bay around the Thermostat area for chafing or if the wire to the sensor has become disconnected and is touching the engine. The cooling fans normally are turned on by another sensor either near the temp sensor or on the radiator. Check the wiring around those places as well.

Radiator fan always on, won't turn off unless unplug battery

Either it is hot wired straight from the battery or the fan relay got stuck.

Locate Fan Relay in engine compartment fuse box and try switching it with another one of the same part no. If fan stops, replace Relay.
