BACK PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE ON MY CAR

Sounds like the catch has been knocked into the closed position with the door open, pot a screw drive in the slot where the door keeper should fit and operate the door handle and flick the lock at the same time.

Drivers door will not latch closed

It appears that the door is not closing far enough for the latch to move to the second position in it's movement. ie on not closing the door properly you will see that it is latched but not closed . Push it harder and it closes properly. Lubricate the latch mechanism and you may have to adjust the catch position to allow the lock to go to the fully locked position POssible rubbers to cold and stiff to allow the door to close easily

They are stuck and need to be lubed. Use WD 40 and spray the latch on the door. Then close the door and open it a few times to work the spray in. Then spray it again it should work just fine.

The door switch is part of the door catch assembly. Try spraying some WD40 into the catch and opening and closing the door several times. If the cam inside the catch will not free itself off, you will need a new catch. Hope this helps...

We have a 2005 ford focus wagon and the locking mechanism on the door will not unlatch which means we cannot close the door. Is there a way to fix this myself?

Have a look at the catch on the door.It has a 'forked' piece that swings one way or the other. On the car, there is a small 'knob' that sticks out about 1/2 inch. With a thick bladed screwdriver, the catch on the door must be clicked back into position so the opening of the fork can let the 'knob' slide into the catch. When looking at the catch, the moving fork is mounted in the catch itself so push around the screwdriver to flick it back out.Its a hard thing to describe but once you do it you will see what I mean.Hope this helps you(the fork has to be swung/clicked sideways)

Both doors on a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix won't open

I had the same problem. What I do now is get in from either one of the two back doors(I have a 4 door). A long term solution would be to take it to the body shop and get the mechanism fixed or buy a remote starter kit and hook it up so that you can also roll the windows down from outside the car. Problem solved.

2005 audi a8 trunk + upgrades for ipod integration

I had exact same problem, but what I found out was a three step solution to the problem.
1) The trunk lock above the trunk lid tself - sometimes looses coiling retention for the lock to work properly, which in effect does not properly lock wrap around the pull down electronic unit located in the body of the car/trunk that catches and pull the trunk lid down SOLUTION: check and make sure lock is works properly. you cab check by opening trunk and locking it with remote key, then pry the lock with a screw driver to see if it unlocks or stays locked

2) The motor catching unit in the body of the car/trunk that catches the lid and draws it down can be off balance (sitting too low to catch the lock (upper trunk lid with lock) to pull it down and stay locked. Have a mechanic - Audi preferrably, check the positon and allignment to adjust it, so it can catch trunk lid and lock to stay locked. HOPE THIS HELPS!
